Leaving that goalie in there for the Colorado game is a strange coaching decision, considering that they are likely going to need him to play in the short term, until Kuemper comes back. Confidence killer.

They have no actual NHL backup though.

They had no NHL backup for this. It would've been an emergency goalie.
I still think it could've paid off however. Toronto are inherent chokers in such circumstances.

Annunen has 15 games in the AHL this season. One period of NHL experience, even if he lets in three, wouldn't be a negative for him, and might actually help his development.
I mean, and this point he's next games starter, as Johannson is going to need therapy.
Annunen missed pre-game skate and got there during the game. I would assume that he is warmed up enough. At least that is what the box score is saying. I haven't watched the game. Is is some Joe in there as backup?

They're doing a ceremonial presentation of a belt buckle for Russel's shot blocking stat.

According to Jack Michaels the Oilers last played the Penguins in 1920.

Bahahahahaha. A ceremony for a stat that means you lose the puck a lot.

Apparently they couldn't just hand him his little prize in the dressing room in passing and post a tweet like a normal team.

Are you joking? I mean, great for Chris, but they should probably ask themselves why the poor bugger has a black and blue body from trying to prevent goals.

I don’t know that he’d have had any warmup. And I don’t know if they can sub in a goalie after the lineup card is submitted.

How does Jack Michaels get any nationally broadcasted games? He is absolutely putrid.

Oilers getting completely outplayed 7 mins in. So glad I can watch the Penguins feed on CI.
Hoping for a clinical grind out Pittsburg win.
