Impressive and well deserved win by the Flames. Dome went home happy. Game could've been a blowout had Jarry not been the brick wall that he was. If this team can find some reliable finish, this team could be real scary. The Penguins won 5 straight coming into this game and the Flames made them look pretty second rate. Now it's time to start translating this against the West.

Special thanks to Mikael Backlund for turning a boring 1-0 win into a thrilling 2-1 sudden death shootout win

He's also talented.

I know their goal totals look impressive. But I feel like their GF totals have been inflated with all the 5-0, 6-0 wins. Seems like this team has either won big or lost close/OT games this season.

Think I heard on the radio that the team has only won 2 one goal games so far. Some additional finish would've made all the difference.

But the blowout wins don't not count.

They count for as much as the close games, and we had about 10 of them. Running away with those games was a full marks accomplishment and required defense as well as finish.

The only team that really gave up and let them pour it on was Buffalo, at least that's the one that comes to mind. Maybe Ottawa.

Taking those out of consideration because they inflate stats is like taking away shutouts to judge goaltending. Or like taking away hat trick games to judge a player's offensive output.

I agree, a little more finish would make all the difference in the one goal games, but they've won more than they've lost and are atop the conference. Hard to nit pick. The close losses were largely unlucky, and even good teams have those.

Jarry was fantastic, my goodness.
Didn't the 3rd line score a goal? Hard to not call that the 3rd line.

How many games have there been this year in which the Flames have been outshot?

This team just keeps looking good every game, and with the shot totals and goaltending what they are, it's hard to see it tailing off very much.

An extra time win was great to see. They are finding new ways to win, just as Oilers fans are finding new ways to moan.

Teams are not enjoying Calgary's forecheck.

Quote:
“We were lucky to get away with a point,” Marcus Pettersson said. “They have a good team. They work their asses off. They were on top of us.”
Quote:
"And then there are the Flames. They’re fast. They’re tenacious. They have one of the best goaltenders in hockey. This is a very interesting team, and the Penguins managed only one of a possible four points against them this season."
That last quote is from the Penguin's beat writer. The Flames are building a reputation as a team that is no fun to play.
