I wonder if there would be this much vitriol towards E. Kane if he was white. You would think he has personally hurt so many people in this thread or even the Flames. So not sure why such an attitude. He was accused of gambling. NHL came back and said no evidence. His claims by his ex-wife have literally been unfounded.
What's the issue? He declared bankruptcy? Why does that matter to anyone?
He is considered to be a bad teammate? What's the evidence?
Jets players practically bullied him out of Winnipeg. He ended up in Buffalo....like who wants to be in Buffalo?
Anyway I don't personally know the guy and he has done nothing to me so as a hockey fan, if he can help the Flames win at $3M per season, I would say the Flames would be stupid not to atleast inquire.
I don't know. Have you seen how much vitriol Theo Fleury gets around here? And he is a Flames legend.
I personally don't think I have said anything mean about him. I hope he sorts his life issues out, but regardless of his skin colour, he seems to bring a lot of negativity these days. DeAngelo is the only other current player that I can think of who is getting another chance while being a grade A doosh. I think it's easier for him to stay out trouble because all he has to do is keep his mouth shut. Kane's issues are a little deeper and include things that made the media question the integrity of the league (gambling, domestic abuse, sexual assault, faking vax passports, etc...).

If they are winning and Kane is the finisher they need to do it then you do it.
If he can pot the goals that poor old Monohan hasn't been able to, I'm all for it.
Winning will fill the seats and sell jerseys.
Not calling you out directly, but rather I’m pointing of how seriously ingrained and wrong this line of thinking is in professional sports. Over the course of several decades, the professional sports world has seen countless examples of this. In high school and college level football where turning a blind eye to trash behaviour in favour of winning. Obviously with the most recent example brought to light this past summer in Chicago.
Heads would roll if companies of other industries ran their organizations in a similar fashion.
I have faith that the Flames org have the ability in identifying these potential problem trades. Any teams willing to take on this trade screams they lack any integrity to me. As others have mentioned, you’re literally bringing in a cancer into a team.
I understand, like all business, the goal is to make money, but to prioritize success, winning any any means necessary doesn’t fly in my book.
It also goes to show how it’s deeply accepted by fans in order to feel pride in the teams we cheer for to achieve success.

Because we don’t know how much of his issues in the league and outside the rink have been a result of his race. No one is born acting like he has. Were his issues pre-dated to the NHL? When he sat down to do an interview a couple years back, he said that his issues in Winnipeg were partially due to him being Black.
Did his teammates treat him differently? Management? Coaches? With Akim Aliu and all the different stuff coming to light recently. I wouldn’t even be shocked if the NHL culture behind the scenes created some of the issues with E. Kane.
Your speculating IMO, his problems are from the treatment of his wife and gambling, given the times if there was a racial issue in Winnipeg it would be news.
His skin color means nothing, he's a proven low IQ dummy period.

I dont really care what your skin colour is, but if you're paying your girlfriend or wife hundreds of thousands of dollars to get an abortion (multiple times) you're a royal POS

Thing is none of these personal matters have been proven in a court of law or has it? If it has not, it’s the equivalent of heresay or slander tbh. Cuz look at the negative reaction it’s created towards him.
Even after that- it’s a personal matter. what does it have to do with Hockey or his professional life. is he doing something illegal?

Forging a vaccine card is illegal yes.

The soft bigotry of low expectations.
Sometimes people are just pieces of ####, and race has absolutely nothing to do with it.
I do distinctly remember him being on the same team as Dustin Byfuglien and he hated Kane and wanted him out. If anyone was to be sympathetic to Kane, would it not be fellow black NHLer who maybe encountered the same issues growing up?

The Atlanta Thrashers had deliberately acquired and marketed African-American players, so there's the possibility Kane witnessed some of the downside. Whether that migrated to Winnipeg with any residual outcome is anyone's guess.
I am not a black person, so I can't relate to the black lived experience in the way Evander Kane has.

First thing I thought of was the Chicago thing. We can look at Evander Kane's situation in two ways. Is he a a victim of the system or is he a perpetrator?
I would not consider it a winning by any means necessary. The guy has issues as anyone else has issues. His issues have been in the public eye and man he has done some stupid #### but I'm not casting the first stone.
Look what we did with Mr. Brian McGrattan and what the people he has mentored as a result while with the Flames. People hit rock bottom and turn themselves around.
How are they even remotely comparable? One is a good man and one is a piece of garbage.
One man's garbage is another man's consistent goal scorer.
I'm pretty sure the only thing I was comparing was the fact that McGrattan was given another chance when he had hit rock bottom.
That's a pretty aggressive stance to hold about someone you don't know personally. He's had his issues and I don't agree with any of the negative things I've heard about him but I wouldn't call him a piece of garbage just yet.

It’s neither hearsay nor slander to say something about someone that “hasn’t been proven in a court of law”. In fact, the fact he hasn’t sued her for slander suggests he doesn’t want to test the statements in court.

It's not slander, Kane is a criminal for forging his vaccination status. He's also black. The only conclusion that can be drawn from those 2 points is that he's a ####ty person because of his actions, not because of his skin colour

I have some bad news if you think other industries don't turn a bad eye to suspect behavior for 'winners'

Rock bottom for McGrattan was not the same as the rock bottom Kane has hit so like I said not really comparable.
One drank excessively and did drugs, and one did a lot of bad things and illegal things.
I just don't think race has anything to do with him being hated. He did that all on his own.
Some of the most hated people in hockey are almost always white.
