While I do agree that Sutter is a great coach, I am curious as to why he's getting praised so much more than Peters' 2018-2019 season. Are we that confident this team is getting 50+ wins, 107+ points this year? More importantly, are we sure we're getting out of the first round? They're playing well, sure, but it seems a bit premature?

It's like Dube was trying so hard to get Mangiapane an assist, then Mangiapane was like whatever, **** it.

Plenty of reasons
- Darryl's 2 SCs with the Kings
- the '04 run
- Peters never coached a team to a playoff series win in the NHL, let alone a SC
- the '18-19 Flames didn't record 7 shutouts in their first 19 games

1. My recollection, perhaps erroneous, was Peters and the crew were getting praised alot that season, but..
2. Sutter has a track record, of course in LA, but what he has done here in the past too that probably adds a comfort level to things

I was lucky enough to be going to school in Vancouver during the 2004 cup run when they beat the Canucks in the first round. It was glorious!

Peters and that team got a ton of praise at the time too as I remember it.
IMO the praise for this team is entirely justified so long as it's focused in the moment. No sense planning parade routes or gloating over things yet to come 19 games into the season.
One lesson I hope they learn from the Peters season is to consider adding more than a 7th defenseman at the deadline.

By my count, the Oilers have 11 of their own drafted players on their roster (including Kelfbom), and the Flames have 9. Not exactly a huge difference.

Sutter's track record is from EVERY team he has coached. He has won everywhere.
Cross your fingers, the guy could join the century club for playoff wins. Only four coaches in that club right now.

First full game I got to watch in a couple weeks...man they are looking impressive. The top to bottom effort and consistency this season has been remarkable. This is no fluke. Sutter has this team keyed in. Great to see.

I'm probably missing someone, but of those, 11 the guys drafted outside the first round have combined for 2 career goals

I was just about to find your snotty retort to my "hire Darryl" suggestion back a few years ago, but we're good now.

SOs in 7 of 11 is straight up MADNESS.
Boys have to be high on the success of their system. Makes them commit even more deeply. What the hell was Johnny doing out there tonight? Laying out guys 1.5 times his size?
Team is ridiculous.
Sutter has that coach's mojo. The libido. The life force. The essence. The "right stuff". What the French call a certain.. I don't know what.

I lived in North Vancouver during the 2015 series and that it pretty fun. I went to game 1 and remember trying to hold my excitement to myself not wanting to risk getting jumped and then let it all out as soon as I got to my apartment.
The funny think I'll always remember is some company scheduled fireworks the night of game 6 and they happened to go off just as the game ended. I also remember ordering pizza the next day and the delivery guy saw my Flames shirt and was pretty salty.
