I'm hoping he reverts to form and becomes the equivalent to a trade deadline addition. Obviously would prefer if he improves before then of course, but the team is playing well now and if he could get back to 80% it would be a great thing.

I’d like to patent Sutter’s system.

This is the best game this 4th line has played I think?

Do we call the fourth line "the Grumpy Old Men" line?

Solid period

If Monahan could just be good Monahan then this team would look real good instead of just good

IMO it's not that different from Gulutzan or Peters' systems, the details are just coached better, especially in the offensive zone.

Part of me even thinks 2018 Peters had them playing essentially the same style, but then around the ASB Peters just started underplaying Brodie and Kylington in favour of Andersson and Fantenberg, and the style change was due to personell change.

Except Peters and the coaching staff all mentioned they changed the style they were playing in preparation for the playoffs.

One of the best first period this season IMO, especially defensively. Without Zadarov I can really enjoy my drinks calmly.

How is this team 'just good' right now? They are 4th in the NHL and almost tied for best in goal differential.

Whatever it was, it just felt like the team shot itself in the foot not sticking with what got them there in the first place.

I was just thinking that during the first period, that this feels like a replica of the first half of 2018-19 Flames.

Peters also often did that thing where he stopped playing the worst performing line and D pairing in the third period. It was neat to see for the start of the season, but it really just meant that the players looked even more gassed than usual.

Whatever Sutter has done (offseason conditioning, forechecking coaching, and equal playing time) has helped the team maintain their jump

Johnny has really rounded out his game. His backchecking and forechecking has improved a lot
