Can you imagine if they could pick different captains. Sisko hologram telling them to go F themselves. Kirk trying to get them to fly to intergalactic brothels. Michael slapping down their ideas and holding hug fests during battles.

Sisko hologram gently counseling the children into a duplicitous murder plot in the name of the greater good...

To be fair guys, they didn't make a Nickelodeon Star Trek cartoon aiming to appeal to a bunch of 35+ year old dudes.

Desilu/Paramount didn't make TOS and TNG to appeal to kids, and yet kids loved it all the same...

(Full disclosure: haven't seen any of this other cartoon, and don't really care too; looked dumb right from the outset.)

Discovery started last night. On the good side, they really cleaned up and simplified a lot of the backgrounds and effects so it doesn't appear as chaotic.

Spoiler!

Watching this is not good for my blood pressure. Not sure why I do it anyways.

I thought it was abysmal. Didn't expect anything less. The writers are still intent on ramming star trek jesus down our throats, and no one else on the ship really matters at all.

Hiding from Burnham, that's where.

So last season was the burn, obviously a giant sentient ham is responsible for this season's calamities.

There are so many scientific explanations for what they keep seeing as Gravitational Lensing. Why don't they actually mention them?

I liked that episode, but I wish they would use a little realism whenever the ship takes damage.

It highlights the main thing I hate about sci-fi which is overdramatizing damage inside the ship. Realistically you’re not going to be seeing computer displays and turboshafts blowing up and showering sparks all over; it would be more like a disappointing blue screens of death everywhere. Like don’t they have surge protection on ships in the future?

The dialogue was terrible. The first scene was god awful crap. "It's what we do!". Holy crap I'd rather stab myself in the face with a shovel.

Stopped watching after the distress call from the space station.

The best is when pipes come down from the ceiling spewing steam and smoke.

Uh huh. Okay. What are those typically for?

"Who's stupid idea was it to put a waste pipe over the bridge"

Seriously the thing that made BSG just stand out was the effect of battle damage. Even at its worst Star Trek ships never really look completely damaged except in Wrath of Khan.

I remember the video game Klingon Academy and I loved it because you could basically blast the hull away and see the inside of the ship, or blow the nacelles off.

The lives of so many Ensigns and Lieutenants could have been saved with this 15 cent miracle of electrical engineering....

Everybody knows particle beam weapons create residual antiprotons that are immune to fuses.

Montgomery Scott is the head of the Galactic Engineer's Union and purchased all fuse manufacturing capacity in order to keep them out of Galactic circulation in order to maintain work and repair requirements for it's membership.

Typical tactics to keep that sweet overtime gravy-train flowing...
