Hated the so-called pedestal then, hate it now.
Black jerseys were all the rage in the 90s, so the Flames made a feeble attempt to introduce a few smudges of black – not enough to cash in on the fashion, but enough to spoil the design and make it overly busy. There's a good reason why you don't usually see four colours on a jersey.
The multi-striped diagonal slash, which would topple over in a second if it were a physical pedestal, wrecked the symmetry of the jersey, interrupted the clean lines of the striping, and worst of all, dwarfed the actual logo.
The whole thing just looked intolerably goofy.

I agree with everything you said but I still want to see the pedestal make a return as either a one-off or a special concept like the reverse retro. They're horrible uniforms but it could be fun to watch them if they're only worn a few times.

Our own Scorp was trying to convince some of the Flames marketing team to wear the Atlanta Flames jersey in warmup to commemorate 50 years since the Atlanta Flames...but they seemed to have no interest in doing this.

I'd like to see the Flames do an alternate incorporating an Indigenous design in striping and logo, similar to what the Winnipeg Jets did.
Maybe with "Mohkínstsis" (Blackfoot name for the area) spelled out on the jersey.

I was very young when the Atlanta Flames were a thing and loved the jerseys. So i’m not being a homer when I say how much I like the color scheme. The old logo was great too.

A few decent designs in there but that "darkout" jersey is beautiful - not as a primary but definitely would make a killer 3rd.
