IMO that's on Andersson. Why is he playing zone defense like that? JG wasn't expecting that, why else would he just drop it like that?
I've said before, a tired Andersson on a shift is a extreme liability and that proves it.

Perhaps this is where the absence of Gio is really prevalent; the lack of a defenseman that's an offensive threat.
Which again begs the question, why hasn't Kylington been given the green light to kick off OT with the main offensive weapons? What they're been doing is clearly not working, and needs to change in order to get better results. Can't be just wasting the extra points. Plus even though it's 3-on-3, if team is gonna make playoffs, want them to become accoustum of getting the gwg in overtime come playoffs by having confidence in the regular season.

Maybe Andersson has a fair excuse, but I used to see Giordano and Brodie make really good plays in these kind of sequences. Brodie would probably have closed out on the rebound. Giordano would probably have gone for a hit on the shooter and took away the two on one with a successful gamble. I
Andersson is Just A Guy.

I was just thinking the same thing. Also maybe try putting a speedy guy like Mangi out there with Johnny. Not sure if they've tried that yet.

Gaudreau didn’t drop it. He got blocked.

Sorry, what?
They have lost 3 games in regulation.
Their OT record is making things look worse than they are, not better.

Can we also talk about how in a game that was completely even the pp's were 6-2 in favour of Philly including a long 5 on 3 and penalty shot. I missed most of the game but that seems a little one sided.

Especially when Gaudreau and Kylington's chemistry was (again) on display tonight, while Gaudreau and Andersson lack of chemistry was just as much on display.
Take a clue from what you saw in regulation. Put Kylington out there.

Even if Kylington gives it away in OT he will skate back fast to prevent the scoring chance anyway..

I'm surprised people are piling on a defenseman that was left alone on a 2 on 1 in OT. Johnny had a great game but he turned the puck over there. The winning goal is on him not Anderson.

I don't think he would be getting the minutes he does on a Sutter team if he was out of shape. Last year, Sutter put a lot of the blame for the season on some of the young D, and Rasmus was front and center-I'm pretty sure he did a lot of work in the off season.

If the Flames were 8-8 they would have 16 points not 21

He did exactly what you are coached to do. Prevent the pass across and leave the shooter to the goalie. The goalie kicked out a huge rebound right into the stick of Atkinson. No way any defender could get there in time.
Markstrom has been great but he's had a couple OT flubs as well.

This here underlines exactly why you use him. Nay, lean on him.. in OT.
You want that d-man to be a guy that can pinch and then get back in a span of 30 seconds.
Like Brodie was here.
Andersson is not that.

As I stated before the loser points are propping them up. They are 8-8 and have 5 loser points propping them up in the standings.

It's an impressive save not a flub...it's a point blank shot

I may be the minority but I'm still weary about Coleman. I just don't think that contract is going to age well.

Maybe because we have a defenceman 100 times better suited for OT on the bench than him.
and yeah he needs to get in better shape for next year.

Rasmus did what a defensman is supposed to do on a 2-on-1, which is take away the pass and leave the shooter to the Goalie. It was a good shot, and a quality rebound.

Johnny had the boo-boo in this one.
But doesn't detract from the obvious potential of OK over Rasmus.
