I wonder if Lindholm has a Nagy injury. Not serious but enough to disrupt things.

I was referring to the chart I posted, which showed the flow of play at 5-on-5. Heavily tilted towards TOR.
5-on-5 play is what causes penalties. Teams that play poorly at 5-on-5 tend to take more of them. And the Flames are playing poorly at 5-on-5 right now.

Yeah, Lindholm gets too much of a free pass here. He needs to play much better.

So take out Calgary's best shift to make the stats fit lol

Relax and try to enjoy the game. It's a fine game of entertainment on a friday night, not a final exam. Lay off this intensity and incessant need to correct people and tell them what they are seeing.

I was agreeing with your post.

They were leading the way before. Their lack of intensity has just trickled down the last couple games.
They need to play like top players again.

Elias Lindholm isn't a top player. If he's not finishing setups by his wingers he's doing very little with the puck. It's so hard to explain but he's like.. the Shea Weber of centres and I don't mean that as a compliment because Shea Weber should not be a centre.

Could be. He's been really poor in the last few games.

Do you understand how to read that chart? It doesn't show play heavily tilted towards Toronto. It was largely going their way until the last few minutes when things swung heavily back to Calgary, and at the end, as it shows, they're only down 4 shot attempts at evens.

This is a really good assessment, I see some of the other lines hustling and then the top line doesn't appear engaged enough. If they could turn it up and play better as a unit they might get a call or some goals.

This is exactly what's been the issue with Lindholm and Gaudreau all along.
They show promise, then they let you down right when you think they're taking off. And their lulls in play tend to coincide with playoffs and important games. It's part of what makes this core incredibly frustrating.
Suspecting that that had changed all of a sudden was foolish I think. This is part of the flaws of this core. Sutter might be able to get more good than bad out of them, but at the end of the day, the same inherent issues will still exist.

Aha, here we go. Player x goes quiet for a bit and wham bam he's hot garbage and the know all types come out with the "I haven't said it before but I've been right along! Look!"
Seriously. Lindholm has been the stable rock in this core since he got here. Now all of a sudden he's not a top player because he went quiet for a few games.
.Jesus I hate this place sometimes.

Yes I know how to read that chart lol. Just because play swung back to Calgary for two minutes at the end doesn't mean Toronto didn't control the play for the first 18. And that's the problem.

I never said that.
I am talking about perception while watching the game. I'm not even complaining about the period.

Yeah, I’m just going to go with it - Mangiapane is our best 200 foot, all situations hockey player.
If the first line continues to do what it’s been doing I’d very much like to see Gaudreau - Whoever - Mangiapane.

We should reunite him with Backlund and Tkachuk. I miss 3M 2.0
Mangiapane - Backlund - Tkachuk
Gaudreau - Lindholm - Coleman
Monahan - Dube - Pitlick
Lucic - x - x
