What did you think wasn't a penalty? Last two were pretty obvious I thought.

This is the Flames I remember from last year. Always shooting the puck right into opposition legs or bodies. Never getting a puck through to the net. The officials seem to have a hate on for the Flames again too !!

The puck is bouncing behind Nylander as he enters the zone...its a foot offside and should have been blown down. Now it's a penalty.

Zeroes after 1 period. Thats a good road period. Flames are fighting it offensively right now though. Only some good energy from the Monny line and the Backlund line late in the 1st.
Call me crazy but this is a really good game with Vladar holding the fort quite excellently .

They were penalties but there should have been calls against Toronto too.

He made the right play IMO. He had an opportunity to walk it to the slot and he got what he felt was a look.
Sometimes #### happens. I'll take a decisive, aggressive play like that anyday.

There should have been a couple calls the other way is the point I think.

Yeah maybe, but I didn't see anything that was an absolute MUST call. The closest was the cross check on Mangiapane after the play but he went down kind of easy.
After 1 at 5v5, the Flames lead 7-2 in high danger chances, all the rest of the underlying numbers are narrowly in favour of the Leafs (50something to 40something). That's a perfectly cromulent road period in my books.

Does it matter who called it?
The near ref was screened by the net and players.

There are two teams on the ice. The Flames deserved those two penalties but there’s been a clear cross check and hooking against Toronto that have not been called.

He's played very well. Some of those save were not easy.
The ice was pretty tilted for most of the period. Getting out tied is about as good as could be hoped for.

The Flames are getting called for more penalties lately because they're playing most of the time without the puck. There have been missed calls on both ends.
The Flames need to play better and stop giving up possession so much. They're getting whipped right now.

This.
Not discrediting the two calls, but make them both ways.

Except they aren't playing most of the time without the puck
The cross check on Mangiapane has to be called

I think the source of it is the top line becoming pedestrian.
They were leading the way before. Their lack of intensity has just trickled down the last couple games.
They need to play like top players again.
Edit: But if they're doing a 360, I can't wait until they come full circle.
