Well she doesn’t have much to gloat about this year!

Hoping Zadorov is out tonight.
Someone posted the record with Zadorov in vs out and it isn't pretty. He looks really bad out there. Advanced stats being good likely the result of team game because the eye test says he is a huge liability.

That's honestly not the way it works.
His numbers say bad things don't happen as often when he's on the ice so he must play a role in keeping things to the outside.
But the eye test tells us he turns over pucks and makes bad decisions leading to chances against.
So both are likely true ... he's a big gaff monster but likely makes up for it and more by being tough to get the puck to home plate against.
Sample sizes likely play a role too because he's not usually a solid xGF% guy, but just a good CA60 or XGA60 guy.

I haven't looked but what do his career numbers say?
Think that would be the proper sample size rather than looking at the 8 or so games he's played for a possession monster coach.

Well, at the same time, his career numbers are on different teams with different partners and different coaches. All that really matters is whether Sutter thinks he’s helping or not.
Giveaways look bad, though I can think of equally bad ones by at least 3 other D last night. Sutter seems to worry more about general gap control, playing within themselves and not getting lost in coverage. Zadorov’s not some terrific player in that respect, but not way out of line with the other D on those fronts also.

Divorce is not only an option, but the correct one from what I am hearing, Puppet.

Yes which is why I think looking at a bigger sample size would be the best way to see if his numbers in Calgary are a fair assessment of his defensive game.
I said before the season even started that anytime the Flames played against Zadorov I would love when he stepped onto the ice because I knew a mistake was coming. I've never been a fan of his and he is clearly showing why.

The D didn't play great last night for sure. Wasn't just Zadorov. I think Hanifin has been pretty meh for at least 6 games. He doesn't turn the puck over lots but he is starting to show why Carolina didn't mind moving on from him. He doesn't have that extra gear but is otherwise a solid D-man. I think he needs to find another gear or he will be like TJ Brodie was here which isn't a bad thing but not a difference maker.

Nah, living with a fanatical Flames fan has silenced Mrs Puppet's commentary to once or twice a year. The MIL, on the other hand, is a hopeless case...

Should the Flames start Markstrom, Vladar or just sign Ayres?

He's clearly making some mistakes. But he isn't clearly showing why as you say because his numbers have been fantastic.
Sample size should correct for sure, and I certainly understand being frustrated with a player that turns the puck over.
But this just might be a case of a guy that makes glaring mistakes, but then does a lot of little things really well that go unnoticed.
Leaves you frustrated because you're zeroing on him.
