What's been your takeaway from Kylington this year? I think he's been their third-best D behind Tanev and Andersson — but very close to Andersson.
All three have been pretty consistently great, IMO.

My point is, a so-called defensive defenseman who is a bad passer, is a liability.
Zadorov is basically what I was expecting Gudbranson to be.
To wit you're right, a team can afford to have one purely defensive defenseman on its roster, especially on its third pair where they won't be dragging down the offensive zone opportunities of the top nine forwards on a consistent basis.
But we already have that - it's Gudbranson and he can make an outlet pass.

Oh, I wasn’t saying anyone should be purely defensive. I’m saying the analysis needs to consider roles and not just assume equality among stats for players in different roles.

Which he stopped. He’d had a pretty good shift there. His “turnover” was a dump in. He wasn’t passing to anyone. It should have been deeper, that’s all.
