Interesting new strategy. Always refer to the opposition as the Rangers. In interviews, in articles, on the ice.
It will get weird, but it might.. just.. work.

Wait what's subjective about it? It's just numbers. If anything, the eye test is far more subjective.
Zadorov has a +0.8 even strength defensive GAR, which is decent — the 118th-best in the league.
Unfortunately, his -1.4 even strength offensive GAR is the 27th-worst in the league and almost singlehandedly tanks his value. This has been the story with Zadorov for years. He is completely unable to push play, especially when he has the puck.
It doesn't matter if a player is decent defensively if he's a black hole offensively.

I’m talking about this game dude. The game on tonight! Now tomorrow against the Leafs I don’t have high expectations. Check your ego at the door

And it doesn’t work as well for defencemen. Expected GAR works better. And GAR is cumulative so players with fewer games are penalized a bit.

Of course it matters, if that’s his job. I don’t think Sutter expects any offence at all from him.

If a player is worse offensively than he is good defensively, he's a liability.

Dude you get riled up every time or think you got an answer for everything. Just relax it’s hockey I don’t really care but this is my opinion on the game because the Flames are way better than the Habs so far this season.

The weights they give different stats are subjective that's why you have so many models that are trying to combine all aspects of the game into one stat.

Yet, the two time Stanley Cup winning coach chooses to play Zadorov.
Why is that?

No, that’s too shallow of an analysis and assumes the offensive and defensive minutes and contribution are equal. If a player has a hypothetically completely defensive role, his offensive contribution is meaningless to his value.

I think a massive part of defense is being able to make a clean outlet pass with the puck on your stick.
If you can't do that, then it doesn't matter how good you are without the puck. More scoring chances are scored off turnovers than not.

Maybe the same reason he didn't play Kylington first 2 games. He isn't god and he isn't perfect.

sounds like you are the one riled up
it was a poor post...I don't think you will find many people that agree that being tied 2-2 or the road after two is an "embarrassment"

As long as Zadorov is mean and keeps the brain farts relatively low, he's fine. Both he and Gudbranson are here to A) be a strong pair against big/pushover opponents and B) show Valimaki and Mackey what they have to be better than to stick in the league. Not as good as. Better. Valimaki hasn't been better than either of them, and he should be. Until he forces his way in Kylington style, there will be a rotation as has been.
