Yeah Rome would be great right now for this football fan, given NFL and NCAA is in full swing. I love hockey as much as the next guy, but hearing about hockey 99% of the time is a bit much.
Even the brief licks of football we do get is mostly fantasy or Vegas point spread/gambling based. What if you're just a classic fan, and don't watch it purely for the purposes of trying to win money?

Part of the challenge with Rome is he's fairly polarizing. He's got a pretty loyal group and then there are people that will literally turn the dial as soon as he comes on.
Not sure how it nets out overall.

Polarizing figures who inspire a loyal following who make them part of their daily routine.
Rome, Cowherd, Skip, Stephen A Smith - they’re there to be hated as much as they are to be liked.
If your host doesn’t inspire emotions in the audience, good or bad, they’re not doing their job.
Nobody cares what Jeff Marek thinks about anything. Just the same way nobody cared what Scott Rintoul thought of anything.
They’re too afraid to be fired for having an unpopular opinion, or too witless to correctly troll their own audience, to be interesting.

Does Rome even cover sports in a broader sense?
I've always found he zeroes in on one story, takes a couple sound bytes from it, and replays them over and over.. and over. Then does his smack talk thing with randos over the phone.
Don't get me wrong, when he had Hartley and Peters on he was a fantastic interviewer as far as an American guy based in socal, but the rest of the time its just him swinging way below what he is capable of, blathering on about seemingly nothing.
