Default Flames 6 Rangers 0

Game Takes: Flames 6 Rangers 0

Brace yourselves it's a long one ...

- Top line goes off for nine points
- Markstrom nets his 4th shut out of the season
- Dube line dominates and finds a home for Lucic.
- Flames find points in 10 straight games!

Good write up as usual, but one question, why did you have to include this after 11 games of the season and the one outing worse than the others?

Are they dialing Darryl Sutter out? Has the league figured out their system? Was the other shoe always going to drop?

None of those questions are answered after tonight’s 6-0 victory over a tired New York Ranger club as it’s still early, but a 60 minute, dominant effort sure punts the ball down the field to be answered later.

Quick, dangerous chemistry between Gaudreau and Tkachuk.

Kylington still making a few "oopsies" but you can see the potential, and it's wonderful.

Zadorov is fine if all he does is take up room near the net - that's enough.

"Flames top line dominant"...

Gaudreau - Lindholm - Tkachuk now have combined for more points than any line in the NHL, other than McDavid and Draisaitl

Nice to have lots of puck look combined with such a good effort. Very fun game to watch.

So, good news: the Flames are undefeated against eastern conference teams. Bad news: the Flames are winless versus western conference. Too bad they’re a western conference team

The Flames are 7-0-0 in games against the East, good for 2nd place in the games against the East behind Florida 8-0-1. In Third against east teams is Toronto and TB with 5-3-1 LA is 3-0-0 and San Jose is 4-2-1

Is there a special advantage the Pacific teams have over the East?

The Flames have only played 4 games against teams in the West. 0-1-3 The only other team without a win against the West is Chicago 0-4-0 . Edmonton is 8-0-0 against the West.

the Flames four games against the west ...

- Oilers on their opening night - out played them five on five no bounces
- out play the Ducks lose in overtime
- out play the Preds and lose in overtime
- have an iffy game against Dallas lose in overtime

Do you see a problem with games against West teams other than the outcome?

I don't.

You are going with last years story line. The Flames were great against the Northern Division expect for winning enough games to make the playoffs.

On the Oilers pretend that PP don't count?

Last year the Flames were 15/16 in PP goals. This year they are in 3rd.

To expand on this a bit more..

Is/are Gudbransons all-around fancy stat number(s) as good as the eye test would suggest.

Im blown away at how solid he is and how simple he keeps his game. It sounds silly but something as simple as clearing the puck out of the d-zone, he makes look easy and very rarely doesn't make it happen. Other guys on this club struggle mightily to do so which results in the keystone cops routine we saw so often the last few years. High flip to centre, off the glass and out, or even some tape to tape passes...he just manages to get it done.

Then you add in his physicality and stand-up for teammates quotient, his length and PK abilities, his min salary, and he really is a perfect 5/6 guy for any defense.

Really surprised and pleased with this signing thus far...but being well conditioned as a Flames fan and waiting for the bottom to fall out on him because thats what often happens to our guys....im hoping that it just isnt there according to "under lying" stats.

They only played in division games last year, so they obviously weren't that good against the north.

No idea what the hell you are trying to get at.

The team is 7-1-3 against the teams that have been on the schedule. That is ALL that matters unless you are suggesting a team with 4 shutouts in that span are just getting lucky.

What about their grit index?

No one at all thinks that this was last year's "story line."

Go away.

There was a "Flames were great against the Northern Division" story line last year?

News to me.

I know this success is hard on you, but dig a little deeper man. The Flames are a top five team in their record, and a top five team in almost every underlying stat.

Nothing to pick apart at this point no matter how hard you try.

Will it last? Not at this pace, but they are full marks for their record and not the least bit worried about a four game sample size against West teams.

I'm just not an extremes guy.

You'll see me fighting against negativity, but I'm also not the guy that assumes 11 games will be what we see for 82, or one game itself meaning the team is completely dominant going forward.

Great win, they played the night before, and that played a role.

But still a fun win.
