Tre built the roster to the coach's strengths? Hah. So he knew 4 years ago that Sutter would be the coach of the 2021/22 Flames and was just messing with us with the past 4 years of futility (aside from the lightning in a bottle stretch in 2019).
Left the teams two best players and biggest stars in a situation where they have a substantial risk of leaving for very little return. All part of the master plan I guess. He built a roster of players for a coach that he didn't even know he was going to hire. I'd say that's pure dumb luck and good fortune, not real gm skill.

I loathe the Rangers nearly to an Oiler-esque level. So to see the Flames outscore them 11-1 this year is just awesome. When Adam Fox went at the crowd only to end up having it called back for offside is about as satisfying as it can get. Seeing his ass inside the net being beat up by Tkachuck when Johnny tapped that home was pretty good too. If it get's to a point where Adam Fox begs his coach to sit him against the Flames I'll be happy.

I did not watch the game due to the biggest UFC card of the year but man oh man this went as great as i possibly could have imagined. Fox with nothing and a big fat minus next to his name while we shut them out and take the season series in a blowout 11-1 score line. I hope that kid regrets coming to this town every night for the rest of his career because it's only going to get worse. The fans won't forget tonight and will continue to build on this till forever.

Perhaps not on topic, but this is a useful reminder for the ‘blow it up, tank, and draft high’ crowd.
Not really. Rangers are just getting unadulterated, deserved karma for having guys like Fox and in the past even Kevin Hayes fall right into their lap just for being the Rangers. I'd gladly take Quinten Byfield (#2 after Lafreniere) and Jack Hughes (#1 ahead of Kakko) on my team.

It does seem like Lafreniere and Kakko are looking very pedestrian considering their draft position and hype. They are both still young and could still turn into star players but I have yet to see either of them look like they have that potential in the NHL yet. Right now, Raymond in Detroit is looking like the real star of the 2020 draft rather than Lafreniere.
One of the funnest regular season games I have attended in a few years. The dome was rocking and Fox probably will have a rough night waking up to the Fox You Suck chant reverberating.

I can't help but feel that they are ruining Lafreniere. They threw him right into the NHL right from junior and put a lot of pressure on him, and now he is on the 4th line. They probably should have left him junior or let him rip it up in the AHL. I get it was a tricky situation where he was too good for junior and not eligible for the AHL after he was drafted, but probably not ready for the NHL either.
