Default Question.......

What happened to the Dion/Kipper pic thread? Move to correct forum if needed, just curious.

It has been removed from the Van Fans site as well. I think it has something to do with player confidentiality rules.

There's all kinds of reasons to remove it, and no really good ones to leave it. It's not what this forum is about.

I can appreciate why you wouldn't want it on this board because we do expect a higher level of post.

That being said "player confidentiality"??? How is that any different than paparazzi pics or anything like that, while I disagree with you guys deleting the thread, it's your board and you can run it the way you want and it doesn't contribute to the "positive" community we have here and that's probably why you're mods and I'm not.

How old was that pic? If it a recent pic, then it is fair game to be discussed.

It's not the sort of behavior I'm looking for from the players gearing up for the playoffs, but it is their business and I respect removing the photo. Minus the pic, some rational discussion in this thread could be interesting/constructive.

My 2 cents.

Not saying it's illegal or anything like that, it's more a matter of respect for the players and their privacy.. Sure some sites will post all manner of gossip, pictures of people in their worst cirucmstances, etc..

And even then I'm not sure how the paparazzi gets around the legality of needing the permission of a subject to take their picture and publish it for profit (which in effect this is doing, since it could be seen as a benifit to this forum). But I've never researched the legality of that kind of thing in Canada, maybe a photographer can comment on that?

I agree photon, and like I said it's your forum and you are welcome to do what you wish and I love the community the mods have created here.

re: legality....

look at newspapers, have they ever asked you to sign a release?
Canada has its own share of tabloid magazines.
They are in a public place engaging in public activities.

Also, those "exclusive celebrity wedding" contract they sign in the states is a way of controlling it because then US magazine or people or whoever can sue the other magazine or something to that effect.

This is all lay opinion I have never taken a course on the subject or in any IP for that matter.

Well, it's Bingo's forum actually

Good point, though newspapers can do it because the intent is for editorial purposes, to inform or educate.. on the forum it's not really used in that way (ie if it was on a front page story that might be different).

Let's not forget the cougars. What about their privacy?

I was going to Photoshop a bubble with Dion saying "Don't move, I'll get you a towel." to the one in front of him, but then I realized that the thread was gone...

Actually I think we are up to 5 now. We've just been quick a couple times getting rid of the threads.

It's a picture of Dion and Kipper smoking at some sort of bar. There is a couple girls in the picture that are talking to them.

It's clear to me that the boys are simply holding the cigarettes for the women while they look for pens to get autographs.
