Yeah that stuff was well on the way long before Bettman, that really started in the '80s

It was affordable. Trades were about hockey talent. Money wasn't the most talked about part of the sport. Canada had the best teams.

Bettman has made a lot of money for owners and players. He hasn't done much of anything for fans.
And if it wasn't for Bettman, half the Canadian teams likely don't survive the 90's

Maybe, but that was 30 years ago. Every organization that doesn't refresh itself regularly (at least every 5-10 years) gets stale and starts to rot. And we're starting to see that with the NHL.

We already saw this with the concussion stuff. Him, Daly and Campbell could all leave tomorrow and I wouldn't shed a tear. This is nothing new, the NHL has always been reactionary, all the way back to paying players good money, they only did that as a reaction to the WHA.

All I'm disputing is the idea that Bettman has been bad for the league or the game. I think he's been a good commissioner overall, but I don't disagree that it could be time for a change.

So, he’s done a spectacular job. Made money for everyone.

If the demand wasn’t there for the fans, the owners and players wouldn’t be making money.

Sports in general have changed to a huge money business.
This has nothing to do with Bettman, except that he kept the NHL relevant through that evolution of the sports industry.

It would be the CFL and at risk of bankruptcy if they kept the form you're missing.

The CFL is always at a risk of bankruptcy due to it being a second class league, if they ever had leadership like a Bettman it probably wouldn't be the case, I don't like Bettman but I have respect for his business mind and vision.
