It's just a shame I can't let myself enjoy mcdavid's talent fully because he's on the horseshoe trash heap up north. why the hell couldn't the sabres or the coyotes have won that draft lottery.
why did the oilers of all the damn teams have to fall ass backwards into a talent like that again, ffs. why, damn it, WHY!?
just sickening...

Might want to wait until they play a top team with their starting goalie before crowning them

They were pretty fortunate to win this one against a bubble team playing their backup goalie

People were saying this last season before the sweep...and the year before that

As for the goal it looked like the Rangers were scared to take a penalty...they were also gassed. Still played it terrible, four guys can't close the middle of the ice?

Just accept it. There’s never been a top tier superstar who didn’t win a cup. Gretzky, Lemieux, Crosby, Ovie all won.

Even the next level guys like Yzerman, Jagr, Sakic, Hull all won cups. All but Hull won with the team they came into the league with.

It’s not until we get to the next tier of guys like Iggy and Thornton who didn’t win, in recent memory anyways.

Connor McDavid will win a Stanley cup. He will likely win one in Edmonton. Very few superstars in any sport don’t win one, let alone hockey.

And we'll all be hoping Eichel & Vegas are good enough to stop them in the playoffs.

I will accept it if it happens such is life, but don't come here and tell me to accept the inevitability when their last playoff game win was 4.5 years ago. Mavi scored goals like this back then too.

It's a nice start for them, but I've literally been waiting for the oncoming slough of Oiler cups predicted by freaking flames fans no less for 12 years now.

Cecil let Ron Maclean on his computer apparently.

Yeah, he's not winning in Edmonton. Why?

In the words of the great Ian Malcolm: Edmonton, uh, finds a way.

McDavid is the most offensively gifted player I've ever seen. Phenomenal skill and vision, but what always fascinates me the most is how much of what he does is genetics. His fast twitch muscle must be off the charts based on his foot and hand speed.

It's a shame he went to the Oilers, but anyone who thinks he's not a truly special talent is out to lunch.

McDavid is one goaltender interference away from breaking his neck on a crossbar on a reckless rush. He's done that tons of times in the NHL so far, but he hasn't even sniffed a stanley cup.

He is, but he's lugging a dead corpse around behind him.

And in the toughest tournament in all of north american sports, you can only drag all that dead weight so far, even for someone as gifted as he is.

He has a right to be pissed at his team, even though it's poor behaviour to take it out on them in-game. He signed up for 8 years with a dumpster fire.

Being a Flames forum I’ve obviously touched a nerve but I’m just following the precedent and being realistic.

Hating him won’t prevent it from happening.

It’ll be like the Eichel trade reaction times a million. A million millions.

Our only hope is that we win one first (unlikely) or he leaves Edmonton. Or an asteroid hits the earth, saving us all from the possibility of it happening.

I hope they lose long enough for him to get frustrated and demand the trade.
But McDavid will win a cup, just a matter of when & where.

Name me one of your superstars that won who had as weak a supporting cast. McDavid has Draisaitl and that’s it.

Banking on he leaves Edmonton after demanding a trade and wins with the receiving team. I think they have maybe 2 cracks at it before he expresses his desires to the club.

Ovie barely won years later with a much better team...crossbar away from losing in the first round that year

The Oilers are capped out for McDavid's prime this is as good as they get

They have played 11 games...half of them against backups, they have beat one playoff team from last year which was missing its entire first line

Sorry if we aren't all jumping on the bandwagon

He has one playoff round win in 7 years

That was text book right-of-way. The SN panel will be proud of the Rangers for how they played that.

Put it this way: We're not underestimating McDavid

We're just counting on Edmonton being more No Good than Connor is good. And in my experience, you can take that to the bank.

There are 32 teams now with a cap...lots of superstars will not win cups in the future IMO

Its really hard

Do you honestly think this team could beat the Panthers or Avs in a 7 game series?

They played a bubble team with their backup tonight and needed a miracle to win it in 3 on 3
