I wish they would give up on Lucic on PP2. I know the thinking is to get that big body in front of the net, but with him out there, they never seem to get setup to allow him to get in position. That unit just isn’t effective at all.
Kylington, Mangi, Coleman, Dube and Backlund?

It's why they are a bad match for the Flames who lack gamebreakers on offense.

He’s been great. Sometimes I wonder what people are watching.
He’s almost automatic on dump ins. Gets the puck, holds position, and gets it to an open player.
Even yesterday he made a wicked cross ice pass to Backlund. Who then gave it away.

Maybe I'm alone but I think Coleman is being a little underutilized and should maybe get time on the 2nd powerplay unit.

Don’t disagree with that at all. But he’s also essential to the PK.

Wasn't it just last year that the Flames actually had more regulation wins than the Habs but they got into the playoffs because they had *way* more loser points? Then we know what they did from there.
Not saying that the Flames are going to do the same thing but I like that they're at least getting to OT, even if they lose, and gaining points when in previous years, that hasn't been the case.
(Or "Benn the case" might be appropriate after last night?)

Dallas has Calgary's number. I thought they would lose this in regulation, so the point was welcomed. It's too bad we suck so badly in 3-on-3 now. Used to be an automatic win for us.

Backlund didnt have any giveaways in the game, Coleman was charged with two.
I'm very happy with the play of Coleman and pleased that we have him signed for 6 years. Does all the little things right, great motor, very high hockey IQ. Great player, living up to his contract.
Interesting last night, Sutter took Backlund off the Coleman line in the 3rd putting Coleman with Monahan and Pitlick. First shift they get hemmed in their zone. Second shift together they again get hemmed, then get scored on. Monahan could have stopped the pass if he just put his stick on the ice. Those screaming for Monahan to move up the lineup, that's what we got. Will be interesting to see if Sutter sticks with that line going forward.
I hate Jamie Benn. I wish Flames would punch his stupid face.

If Sutter can bring back old Monahan we will be much better team for scoring. Monahan looks like the next healthy scratch if he plays like this.

I largely view 3 on 3 to be a flip of the coin. Certainly the Oilers have an advantage as McDavid's speed just is un-matched. But for the most part I think it's a lot of luck.
Last night Calgary was the better team in OT by a good margin.
I have a hard time stressing too much about OT and SO losses.

My concern with Monahan is he just looks slower than he did before the injury. Hoping it's part of the recovery but his agility looks like it has worsened.

Disclaimer, I'm obviously not a Doctor, and barely a functioning adult:
I feel like if you or I have major surgery, pain is alleviated and we can get back to a normal life. For a pro athlete, pain is alleviated but they will rarely return to 100% of their original capacity. Their body was already doing extreme tasks that lead to injury.
Like when Karlsson had his ankle procedure. He had cadaver parts put in. It was obvious he'd never be 100% of what he was. Maybe not even close. I feel like that has been proven.

Oh because the box score says it, the cross ice pass he tried with 6:39 left in the third didn’t happen?

I wouldn't trust Sutter's public comments. Monahan is 7th among forwards for ES ice time, which I'd argue is about where Sutter sees him. Not awful, not great.

Monahan can dump the puck in or just skate and some would compliment him.
He doesn't look like an NHLer at this point. He kind of looks like Joe Colborne out there.

I mean I dont have the play at 6:39 recorded, but it seems you do, I believe you. Please dont send me to Plutanamo Bay. I was just going off of the NHLs stats.
