Guess if the Flames lose tonight against Dallas, they can blame Tre. I already said my thanks.

Well, this is why you don't sign replacement-level players to multi-million dollar contracts. Without Zadorov and Gudbransen, maybe the Flames would have had the cap flexibility to trade for Eichel.
Of course, it's way too early to know whether Eichel would have been worth the price the Flames would have had to pay.

Don't be so harsh on ol' Brad. Just got to fail a bunch of times before you learn how to win... or something lol
But seriously, he just loves him some replacement level dmen doesn't he? It's pretty much his legacy as far as I can tell

Gudbranson has actually been playing up to his salary in my opinion. Still early, but so far that is looking like a shrewd signing.
Honestly, neither of those guys are stopping a signing or a trade. If they can't be included in the deal, on waivers they would go.

Waivers would not have helped when things heated up last night between Buffalo and VGK. It takes 24 hours to clear, and that would not have got rid of their entire salaries.
But I will admit that Gudbranson has been better than I expected. At least more often than not. Wait, is such a statement allowed on this thread?

The Flames ####ed this up. Brad Treliving is an idiot by not making a better offer than the one that was on the table. That was how I woke up this morning. But it is funny how the universe works. Follow along.
My next door neighbor is an ex-Washington State Sheriff and a ranked competitive pickle ball player (yes, there is such a thing). He's really fit and is a workout fiend. But, like a lot of cops, over two+ decades of wearing a duty belt he developed a herniated lumbar disc. He went in for back surgery in March, at the end of his pickleball season, and disappeared from the face of the earth. I hadn't seen him more than a couple times during his recovery and through the teeth of the summer. I thought he was just hiding from the oppressive heat and I'd see him as the new pickleball season opened up. But I didn't see or hear from him, and was kind of concerned.
So I'm out on "pick up" duty in the backyard this morning, before trash pick up, and I see his wife across the fence. I ask how he was doing and she just shook her head. His first surgery was disc replacement, and it initially started out great. His recovery was motoring along, then he started to feel pain and lose feeling in his leg. He went back to the doctor and discovered the implants had shifted and he needed a second surgery. He had it done three weeks ago and he's in a bad place, not being able to walk and basically being bed ridden. This is not the first cop I know to have had this surgery and not the first to have negative outcomes. Makes you appreciate the things you have when you look at people you know suffering. But that conversation quickly got me over any disappointment I had with the Eichel trade, as this is exactly what Eichel could run into.
So excuse me while I thank Brad Treliving for not making a deal where he trades away our three top prospects, a 1st round pick, and a very good hockey player in his own right for another very good but injured hockey player. Hockey is a game where depth wins more often than not, and the Flames have some very under-rated prospects coming up that can create some impressive depth. Not making this deal was the right thing. Hearing about the condition of my neighbor was all it took for me to understand how much risk we averted, and how much better we can be when these prospects find their way onto the roster.

Umm that’s on the coach and players. Fact is Tre has nothing in years to help this team reach above mediocrity. Action louder then words

Thanked on behalf of my own spine, which is now permanently borked because of an injury that went undetected at the time.

That sucks. Hopefully you can function and it doesn't impact the important parts of your life. The spine is something NOT to #### with!!!

looking at the depth at C of the other teams in the division compared to the Flames and wow... I hope the Flames can somehow manage to be dominant and win the cup but it seems like a waiting game for when the wheels completely fall off and they play like they have the past few years. I'm always going to be a fan of the Flames but wow are they frustrating to cheer for. It's like they love mediocrity and don't ever want to change.
Not good enough, not bad enough...just there.

Not getting Jack Eichel is the worst thing that has ever happened to team since Blake Comeau was traded. Imma cheer for the Calgary Hitmen from now on. They seem to know how to run a competent franchise
