Agreed. Fleury was the glue that held that team together. Vegas isn't making the playoffs this year.

If not, it can only be because Tuch has 4.5 years left and Tkachuk has 1.5

Wouldn't that put us over the cap?

Your feelings are actually very likely to be inverse the truth given how often you are wrong. I don't think I've ever seen you post a single thing that wasn't disproven within a week.

This. Buffalo could easily have ended up not being able to deal Tkachuk and had him walk in a year (or less if they didn’t pay his QO). People that figure he’s easily dealt at the TDL for multiple firsts are kidding themselves IMO. No high salary players have moved at the TDL in the last few years aside from Taylor Hall and he garnered a 2nd in a 50% retention deal, and went to a team that wanted to extend him. Foligno got a first but again - retained salary (twice!!) and he only made $5.5 to begin with. That was a complex deal not easily repeated.

Buffalo was in love with Krebs and the Flames have nothing like a Tuch to offer.

Well now that this is over let’s get Gaudreau signed because maybe the Eichel thing was holding it up. Lots of positives to look at. Exciting prospects coming in Zary, Coronado, Peletier, and Ruzicka is lighting it up in the A. Teams entertaining consistently for the first time in years.

I honestly think the cap space and pick used on Zadorov played a factor.

Then offer 2 of Zary/Pelletier/Coronato.
Tuch is nothing special. An injury prone middle 6 player.

Move Stone to LTIR, make trade, move Eichel to LTIR and Stone back to IR.

Vegas got a great deal, but it was obviously because Buffalo was in love with Krebs. This is a real disappointing return for Buffalo. Krebs is an alright prospect, but don't think he's any better than any of the Flames top three. Tuch is another alright player, but is coming off of reconstructive shoulder surgery. We'll see how that works out for them. The 1st is protected, so it won't be a fantastic pick. Over all, not the four 1sts Buffalo was demanding. Not even close. Glad to see them take it in the shorts on this one. The fans in Buffalo are going to be PISSED.
Good on Treliving for not blinking. I think the deal could have been beat, but I also think it would have done more long term damage to the organization as a whole than maybe we would have been happy about. I think we are close to building some critical mass as these prospects come together. Will be interesting what this does on the signing and salary front. My one big criticism of Treliving is he never seems to be able to multitask and now he will have the time to focus on getting extensions done for Gaudreau, Mangipange, and Tkachuk. Once those are done, then maybe he can go fishing again.

It’s not a video game, you don’t just keep adding things until the other team accepts. If they wanted Krebs, they wanted Krebs. Throw in Tuch and a 1st, slam dunk for Adams if Krebs was the priority.

Was just thinking that. Heard Carolina was quietly 3rd place in the Eichel sweepstakes, here comes a Jordan Staal for Monahan trade or something like that.
