If it was such an easy package to beat, why didn't 30 other teams beat it?

I’m guessing that if Tkachuk had been offered, Eichel would now be a Flame.

Tuch must be gutted this morning. His 5 year value deal will just kick him in the teeth daily

If I was a Sabres fan I would be pretty underwhelmed with this return as I don't think Krebs is anything special. I am no Treliving fan but I give him credit for holding his ground and not caving into whatever Buffalo's demands were. I was always on the fence on how much better this organization would be moving out picks and prospects for an injury prone player that would undergo alternate surgery which may or may not yield better results than traditional. Even if the Flames acquired Eichel it was never a slam dunk win for the Flames so I'm fine with staying the course and holding onto the picks and prospects.

I’m not convinced of that. He could walk in less than two years. Krebs and Tuch are under control for many years still.

Calm down everyone
We don't know what the Flames offered or what was the ask from Buffalo was of the Flames
This isn't an Ebay auction where we could just continuously one up Vegas. The Buffalo GM ultimately picks what they prefer, and it seems Vegas had something that Calgary couldn't offer (term players, cap flexibility, Krebs...etc)

I think the most surprising thing here is how quickly a lot of you have turned on Tkachuk.
He had one "off" year.
He is still the best all around player on the team.

It’s a crazy good deal for a 6’4” RHS RW who scored 33 points in 55 games mainly from the third line. He’s easily a top 6 player on most teams.

Vegas has one of the best RWs (Stone), one of the best centers (Eichel), some of the best defensemen (Pietrangelo and Theodore), and one of the best goalies (Lehner).
Pretty impressive considering they've drafted none of them.
Really, it makes me think lottery wins aren't necessary to get elite players. You just need the guys to make risky deals.

Any idea how Vegas is actually going to make this work? LTIR is saving them right now, but more moves need to be made before activating Eichel. They will be almost 10 million over the cap

I have a feeling when Eichel gets back and is healthy the people in here saying they are glad Treliving didn't pay the price will be wishing Treliving had paid the price.
Now we'll have a front row seat to watch it unfold too.

Also when is Vegas’ reputation going to take a hit? Guys with long term deals there and get shipped as soon as there’s a shiny new toy. Tuch, Fleury, Schmidt

Vegas doesn't have Fleurys horseshoes to get anywhere.
They are a decent team. But they road a amazing goaltender for several years to success.
Good luck!

I have a feeling eichel won't make a difference like he never made a difference for Buffalo.

Acquisition cost wasn't high. Comparable for us is dube+zary+1st+3rd. Maybe mangiapane is what they asked for?
I dont know. Going to get flack but it seems obvious to me we could have beaten this offer.

Says you.
Pandemic year. A lot of top players around the league had tough years.
Look at Gaudreau, we are less than 6 months from a good majority of people on CP eager to get rid of him.
Now how does that look in hindsight?
