With all the hype and drama surrounding this, there is going to be a huge letdown if this happens for the Flames.

I think Vegas' reported interest is a smokescreen put out by Buffalo to try to up the return. Most of their top players are injured, and they have no real cap space, only LTIR, so they cannot accrue cap space and would have to clear $10M in cap before they could add him to the active roster. The only way this would work is if several of Vegas' currently injured players with a combined cap hit similar to Eichel were included in the trade, and then you have to question whether those are pieces (in terms of age) that Buffalo would want in terms of their rebuild plans. Otherwise, Vegas would have to find a way to get rid of $10M in salary mid-season by means of cap dump, which would cost them a lot of assets.

So many questions that have to be asked, should this deal fall through, do we now have a Brodie situation x2 in a disconnected Monahan and Tkachuk ? How's that going to impact the current play and obvious gelling of the team ? Have we gone and played our hand and have to trade them now ?
Flipside, if the deal does go through does BOA and AB hockey increase in the media spotlight with an Eichel Vs McMediaDarling rivalry ?

Eichel packing his bags for Calgary would be anything but a letdown.
Unless you mean for Buffalo fans when the real Flames package comes to light.

Speak for yourself. I already named my kids Jack and Eichel. Plus I just scheduled disk replacement surgery so that I could be just like my idol. The deposit was $60,000 and it’s non refundable!

I noticed during Monny's interview bits yesterday that he referenced how he was happy to have got 600 games or what have you here in Calgary. I thought at the time it could be construed as something other than normal hockey platitudes. Not sure if anyone else had any thoughts.
I still can't shake this severe case of the golden effin knights.

Tkachuk, Zadarov, and 2022 first for Eichel. If Tkachuk doesn't sign a longterm extension Calgary includes another first within the next 4 seasons.
