LOL
That would make so much sense as to why the former first and prospects are not revealed.

Stating it that way makes it sound more enticing if the pieces are Zadorov, Ruzicka and Philp.

Brad and his henchmen playing dirty after the one yard but demands not met press release.

Seems like a lot to pay for a player with a gigantic question mark over whether he will be the same player post surgery. This is definitely a hail mary move by Treliving, he must be feeling a lot of pressure

Neither did Weekes though. He did say potential. Maybe trying to sell it to the Sabres fans, since Eichel was their captain.

I look at this through the lens the Flames will not rebuild. They sure aren't bad enough to be in contention for Wright or Bedard in the next two drafts unless they trade Markstrom and all the top 6 forwards.

If Tkachuk is disgruntled and wants out I take the gamble on Eichel versus the types of packages that were floating out of St Louis.

The longer this takes the less likely Eichel will be healthy at any point this season or in the postseason. Still hasn't gotten the surgery he wants. There has to be a point where this becomes an offseason move and it has to be close.

Don't like Tkachuk in the long term plans, happy to see him as the center piece.

The Flames leaked to gauge Flames fans’ reaction to trading Tkachuk
And to put some pressure on the Sabres…

I do wonder how this will impact the relationship between the Flames and Tkachuk though

Or Tkachuk has informed Treliving he plans on forcing his way to UFA

Apologies if already asked....If Tkachuk is actually being offered here, how is Vegas beating this deal?

Carolina seemed fine losing Hanifin and Lindholm had mediocre numbers.

Brad actually made several shrewd roster management decisions there. Hamilton wanted out, Fox wasn't signing, Ferland was still useful but concussion issues were piling up. It turned out to be a big win. That's how I rationalize that package. guys who want out and aren't re-signing. Also, TBull8 can take a bow if it goes through.
I agree with your assessment of the Hamilton trade. But it strikes me that Hamilton and Fox wanting out may just have an equivalent in Tkachuk, if the rumours about him having St. Louis in mind long term are true. At the very least Tkachuk is going to drive a super hard bargain going forward.

Presumably the Sabres like Krebs more than any of the futures in the Flames package.

They aren't. Hence the Wikipedia vandalization.

Recovery from time of surgery has been reported as 3-4 months to get him back into games.

So he's back somewhere around the end of February/start of March on the longer timeline

I believe the thinking is that if he gets the surgery now, he should be able to return after the Olympic break, so there is still some runway, though probably numbering in the weeks, if not days.

I'm not happy, but it makes the most sense.

9M tied up in a winger doesn't make sense for us long term (unless that's johnny).

On the other hand, Tkachuk is a valuable player to have on your side.

I don't know if the GM is travelling with the team, but the Sabres are on a west coast trip right now. They played in San Jose last night and are in Seattle tomorrow.

The fact that tkachuk is rumoured to be part of the package indicates that he isn't in the long term plans for the franchise (either he isn't interested in signing long-term or flames aren't willing to pay the price he's willing to sign for).

If the flames can manage to do this without zary and/or coranato, this would be a heck of a deal for the flames.

With a deal like this, I would think it would not necessarily consummated in the middle of the night though. Especially since it has taken long enough as it is.

(For the fans/local media is what I’m referring to, especially given how big the deal would be)
