I can full acknowledge that 80 point Monahan was an anomaly, but the guy isn’t done. He’s a very capable middle six center.

No one is saying Monahan is savior for Vegas, just acknowledging that he can help fill a hole on a leaky ship before it sinks completely. Especially if the cost is only draft picks and Buffalo retains some money.

Things still up in the air include:
- Will salary be retained on Eichel?
- Will salary be going out such as Zadorov to balance out the cap
- is this actually enough value going Buffalo's way, or are we overrating Valimaki/Zary/Monahan? Monahan in particular still has zero 5v5 points this year, which may be the wrench in the cogs
- Are the Flames willing to give up Dube with Eichel out nearly all year? Maybe not.
- Would there be conditions on the 1st - games played, 1stOA protection etc?
- Are the Sabres satisfied with the potential of Valimaki or Zary, or do they look at current performance and ask for Kylington, Coronato, etc?
- Does Vegas simply have a player (Krebs) that swings the tide in their favour, all else equal?
- How does acquiring Eichel /moving out Monahan affect our ability to re-sign Tkachuk, Gaudreau, Mangiapane, and Kylington? That is a lot of contract year guys. Gaudreau and Monahan are close, we don't know if that ends up being a swing factor.

I think it will be Eichel’s agent that has the influence that pushes eichel towards Vegas. At some point in all of this, Eichel’s new agent was given the opportunity to find a trade partner in order to get the deal done. I assume he is still involved in making this trade happen. Anywhere is better than Buffalo for eichel of course… but I would not be surprised if his agent is pushing Vegas especially to up their offer so the deal gets done there preferably… assuming that is Eichel’s preferred destination.

Have to think Eichel’s new agent sold him with some kind of “I’ll get you traded and I’ll get you to the team that you want to be on if you sign with me” pitch. So every time Calgary increases their offer… both Adams and possibly Eichel’s agent are calling Vegas trying to get them to match.

We can only hope that Hanifin is telling eichel how much he likes Calgary and hopes he ends up here instead.
