I'm gonna guess the portion of athletes who've gotten DUIs isn't that much larger than the population as a whole. Stupid people simply make stupid decisions, and sadly this one cost a life. But I wouldn't say his career is over at all, lest we forget Leonard Little and Donte Stallworth both had a DUI causing death and had careers afterwards. NFL is still the business where if you are not in jail and possess high level talent you will get another chance.

Teams cover this explicitly every year with players. The NFL has a concierge service available to all players. Teams have drivers on-call at their facilities to pick up players that go out on the town. There's simply no excuse regardless of age for a player to get behind the wheel drunk.

It's going to be difficult for Ruggs as this is probably going to get dealt with harsher then when Stallworth killed the pedestrian. I suppose as long as Andy Reid is coaching in the NFL he has a chance to play again.

He won't have much of a career when he is in prison no matter if the NFL turns a blind eye.
If the rumors are true he is doing some time

I mean Leonard Little blew a .19 when he killed someone, got probation, got to come back, got another DUI later on, and STILL got to play after that. So we'll see, but the NFL has shown time and again it will let criminals play.

Not that I don't agree, but in the case of Donte Stallworth, he struck someone who was jaywalking across the freeway in the dark. The person Ruggs killed wasn't breaking any bylaws and putting himself at risk when he was killed, I wonder if that changes things. And yes, the current era as well.

^Which is funny because it's the justice system I worry about. The only reason Little got back into the league is because he essentially got a walk on his charges (probation + community service). As we know DUI punishments are routinely very weak, so I can absolutely see a scenario where Ruggs gets probation and community service (He's ####ed on the civil front, however). But that's pretty much my motto: Unless they are in jail teams will be interested. The NFL doesn't hand out lifetime bans, and we know teams will always take fliers on those of horrific character, so he could be back.

The fact that they charged him with a felony this fast means he didn't have a couple beers he was wasted. Seems like reckless driving too

Apparently he said he was immunized, he never mentioned the word vaccinated. So he mislead. Either way was not vaccinated.

Me too, I'm a big Packers fan and this is infuriating. "Immunized". To think I was making fun of Kirk Cousins to my friend who's a Vikings fan, meanwhile this guy was slithering around.

Here's him smugly talking about his "immunized" status.
