XG were 1.28 Tottenham vs 1.35 Man U.
But two combined moments of brilliance between Ronaldo and Fernandes and it was 2-0.
I don’t think OGS is a bad manager, and I think he’s did a great job washing off the Mourinho stench (hell maybe Tottenham should hire him), but I just think they would probably benefit from getting a true world class manager in there.

Jebus. That was totally a comfortable win.
What next? You're going to point out that The Spurs had more possession?
Of course they would benefit from a WC manager and noone is suggesting OGS is that but to try and say that he wasn't great tactically when he pretty much nailed it (albeit against a crap team) is just wrong.
What, tactically did he get wrong? Kane and Son were basically snuffed out. Zero shots on goal?

In fairness I don't think Donny is his transfer which therein is a problem in itself.
Sancho. Eff knows?

fair enough, but then they should have let him leave this summer. Instead, Ole convinced him by promising him game time, then gave him a total of 6 minutes in 10 PL games. He's been frozen out as if he had been a total failure, but he's never been given a fair chance. Could have just burnt all that money and it would have had the same effect.
with Sancho, I'm more relaxed. He's young and the step from Bundesliga to PL is no joke. Time's on his side and I doubt he'll be frozen out. But if Ole courts a player for two years and then doesn't know how to use him, it's just another example of the manager being not up to the task.

That makes literally zero sense
Hes under contract for 2 seasons after this one, why would you sell him at his lowest value in probly 10 years?

Spurs should be about 0.8 lower which came from the son chance that they would have gone back and called offside if awb didnt block it

Because you cant play him.
There were Ball Boys more invested in that match than Harry Kane.
Sell him for whatever you can get or hold on to him for 2 years while he coasts and you play every match down a man from the start.
A concession worker selling hot dogs and beer influenced that match more than Harry Kane.

Hold him, sit him in the reserves for a few weeks
Hes gonna start caring a lot before the world cup if he wants to keep his place at the very least
Selling in january for 25 cents on the dollar would be horrible business

you have to ride it out with Kane this season. Selling him in January solves absolutely nothing, his value is completely shot right now and finding a good replacement in January is not easy either. I'd personally bench him for a bit, then hope he picks it up at some point under the new manager and somewhat restores his value, then sell him in the summer.

I just don’t think either side was great to be honest.
It was a couple of brilliant plays from Ronaldo that won them the match and don’t think they really looked great outside of those two moments of brilliance.
Not like they created a whole bunch of chances and dominated all game long.
They took the chances they had well, but outside of that I wouldn’t be too inspired by either teams set up or performs today.
That same level of effort against City, Liverpool, Chelsea and that’s a loss for Man U. Helps that as has been said that Kane looks like he’s just going through the motions out there and Tottenham is in shambles right now.
That’s one thing for Man U I guess, I’m not sure there are a lot of great managers out there that are available. So no point in going for a guy like Nuno, and unless you can get Zidane then you’re probably better off with OGS. I don’t think Conte really fits what they are trying to build TBH.

Pretty pathetic display from Nuno and his choices today. Kane was basically irrelevant and lacklustre. The defence was hilariously inept, and made United look like a team that’s got it figured out. Apparently, “El Sackico” didn’t even come to be though as Spurs are giving Nuno more time to “turn it around”. Just a bad day.
I guess United won. But then again, they are sticking with Ole, so hard to say.

It was always realistically after the Everton game if it happens before the new year, gives the caretaker, hope its mason again, a full international break

You really think Southgate is gonna care? Sterling has been in abysmal form with City for pretty much the entire calendar year and isn't starting regularly for them, and he is still penciled in the start for England. The thing is whether it's January or July, the market for him is realistic still only one team. You're not selling him to Chelsea or Arsenal, Liverpool won't pay a nine figure fee, and United (and probably everyone else) will be after Haaland come summer.
His value is never coming back to whatever City offered this summer. There won't ever be a bidding war for him because there simply won't be enough interested parties at the price Spurs want. Get rid of his crap attitude and I bet that team plays better, because right now his disinterested performances (and the outside distractions that come with them) surely aren't playing well in the locker room.

I’m hoping we get Gallardo in December. Bring in Mason and let him play his buddies for a few weeks, and bring him in before Christmas.
As far as your next post, Chelsea looks good and it’s basically them and Liverpool who look to be the best in the PL at this fairly early stage.

I dont necessarily agree. He doesnt care. Spurs' results are grim.
25 cents on the dollar for Kane at the moment would be generous.

Really? I think the class team at the moment is Chelsea. They look like they can win any number of ways.
City are expensive, but not particularly adaptable and Liverpool are in there with a shout, but Chelsea have looked impressive thus far.

Liverpool looked terrible today and were very lucky not to lose to Brighton. They're great going forward but a mess at the back.
Chelsea are the clear cut favorites to win the title at this point.

Liverpool are actually better than chelsea at the back and 4th in the league at xg allowed, so if they are a mess I wonder what chelsea are?
Liverpool are also miles ahead of them and everyone else going forward
Also in betting odds, city are close to even money to win the league
Clear cut tho for chelsea, clear cut

As a bit of an aside though, I wonder about xG. I see it posted after a lot of games in various places and while the concept makes sense, it seems like it’s off a lot of the time. I’m not sure if you could use that reliably to predict standings or outcomes for the league?

It's better at predicting how a team will do in future, then as to what they've done to now
It's not perfect because different individuals are better finishers than others, messi and son are two who outperform it a lot iirc, but it's basically looking at where the shot was from, what type of shot it was (normal, volley, header etc.), where it came from (I.e is it from a cross), things like that.
So say in open play, a header from the penalty spot, there's been 100 of them all time, and 14 went in. So a header from the spot is considered worth 0.14xg. But obviously its tracked over thousands and thousands of games, which is why an elite striker will usually outperform theirs because your comparing it to every shot tracked from that area, but not everyone has their talent.
It's better than possession, or shots attempted, or shots on target, because it shows shot quality.

You can look at the premier leagues here
https://footballxg.com/xg-league-tables/
I dont know that specific site, but it was first one that came up with league table and xg comparison, all the data generally comes from opta or statsbomb
But if you see the choices on the right and switch to last year
City were 1 in both, rest of the top 4 were the top 4, and outside Brighton massively underperforming the rest were pretty close to finishing around their level.
This years shows pretty much same as the chart I posted above, liverpool are in a league of their own going forward, city are similar defensively, chelsea are mid
