No thanks to trading this guy unless you know he won’t sign in Calgary.

I predict Coronato will turn pro after 1 (maybe 2) college season. He is not waiting 4 to be UFA
Look at the 2019 draft. 7 college players selected in the top 15. All turned pro after 1 or 2 college seasons

I don’t think he could have been more convincing in that he wants to get to the NHL ASAP. I think we could even see him next year in flames colours.

Gaudreau - Lindholm - Tkachuk
Mangiapane - Eichel - Coronato
Coleman - Backlund - Dube
...one game into his collegiate career, but I'm sure we all see the same thing: 1300 career points.

Sure hope so. A high speed scoring RW on an ELC playing with Mangiapane and Dube as soon as next year could literally be the difference.

Centerpiece? Every day of the week. If Coronate is the most valuable piece the Flames give up in an Eichel trade, there should be dancing in the streets.
Not as excited if there are two or more pieces more valuable than him going the other way.

Off to a good start but yeah I’d trade him for Eichel without blinking

I agree. Buff isn't looking for roster players and Coronato has got to be our top prospect, hasn't he?

He is. Higher pick and younger.

But that's Brett Richie's spot.

Let's say he scores 10-12 g in his first 10 games through the end of November. Buffalo is salivating at the prospect of adding him. But we need to dump salary (though not right away, given Eichel's LTIR status).
I wonder if Coronato, Zary, an unconditional 1st in 2022 and a Zadorov salary dump gets it done?

Yeah, a 12th OA pick should be in the NHL within 1 or 2 years of being drafted.
Based on his play and physical maturity, it seems like Coronato should make team sooner rather than later.
If he has a great year, you can already start to argue that it's not worth spending another year in the ECAC.

Coronato is on track for 112 points in 28 games.
You can't trade away a guy like that!

No, NCAA D1 is a tough league with older players than CHL.

Not all the NCAA Div I leagues are the same, though. Hockey East—where Gaudreau played—is a considerably more highly competitive League than ECAC, which is actually more closely comparable to the CHL.

I got that impression too. His priority came across clearly as wanting to advance in his hockey career.

Maybe this is the reason Buffalo hasn't pulled the trigger on a trade with VGK?
