If he goes there... sorry but I hope in his lengthy recovery time Jack finds something else he likes more than hockey and leaves them at the alter. Because that's exactly what Vegas deserves.

They can pound the sand that surrounds their pitiful, decrepit, addiction-fueled themepark of sins.

If I had to pick between Anahiem and Vegas, I hope it’s Anahiem. I just hate Vegas with a burning passion.

Hopefully if he goes there he is more of a Karlsson than a Thorton

I’m writing a very sternly worded email to Treliving if we don’t get Eichel.

Make sure you call him Bradley, I hear that really gets the point across.

[fact]Bradley sucks at his job[/fact] so expect him to miss out, and as fans expect to be underwhelmed by what it cost vegas.

Make sure you call him by his correct first name: Bradley.

Actually just read the article. Didn’t know Vegas has $8 million in cap space because of LTr . That’s a big plus for them to get a deal done.

It doesn't matter a lick, because Eichel is going on LTIR anyway. By the time he is ready to come off LTIR, Vegas will probably have their other players back and have to make him fit under the cap.

Major salary has to leave Vegas to make the deal work, same as any other team.

It gives them 3-4 months to figure it out. A luxury the flames don’t have.

I repeat, it's exactly the same. Whatever team Eichel goes to, he will be on LTIR. His effective cap hit will be zero while injured, and the full $10 million once he returns.

The only way Vegas benefits from this is if the players they now have on LTIR are out for the entire season. I don't believe we have any definite information that this is the case.

I'm not sure you'd want to wait that long to try and figure it out, especially via trades. By the time they have to truly clear cap, there's unlikely anyone that will do them any favors, perhaps doubly so because it's Vegas.

It may perhaps give them a bit more time but they'd still have to make hockey trades that make sense for the other teams unless they start packaging additional assets for less than desirable contracts.

I could be wrong but don’t the teams have to be cap compliant when making the trade , before putting Eichel on LTIR?

I believe you are correct. LTIR is team specific and doesn't automatically carry over to a new team. The acquiring team would have to do their own paperwork to place him on LTIR after acquiring his contract. He would technically be an active player upon acquisition.

Having said that, I am not aware of this situation being an issue before. If there is no precedent yet, I could see the NHL approving the deal anyway. I am not sure that the spirit or intent here is to prevent deals, especially one that would potentially get a star player back on the ice sooner.
