A new Mayor and first female Mayor of Calgary, Jyoti Gondek and new City Councillors have now been sworn in we are moving forward with a new team.

How do you properly pronounce her name? I've seen people on the news do it a half-dozen different ways.

One of the first things Mayor Gondek said was this:

Gondek has said that one of her first acts after she takes office will be to declare a climate emergency. That’s a way of sending the message that the politics around Alberta’s energy transition are changing and that the city of Calgary is taking climate change seriously, she said.

Wasn't that other thread a continuation of a previous thread and it was also started before the election. I also really didn't see a lot of talk about Jyoti Gondek being the first female mayor of Calgary.

I'm strongly, strongly in favor of fluoridation, but don't get why they're saying it won't increase taxes or water rates. As far as I know no other layer of govt is paying for it - so where is the money coming from?

Be grownups and argue that the things you're spending money on are priorities. Or acknowledge that you're cutting elsewhere.
