They did a little to make the Northwest entry more welcoming, but that side of the building could still use more street interaction. It does seem to show a bit down the stretch but why not bring it all the way to the entrance!
I assume it will be projections on the upper portion. They will likely have a few set "shows" depending on what's going on the building.
The quality of projection technology has improved significantly in recent years. Disney has been incorporating projections into their fireworks shows for a few years now and it looks quite impressive.

The inside counts more than the outside. As long as it's not over styled like the Rogers Arena it should age well in the city landscape. I think the exterior looks fine based on these renders, however it doesn't appear to have a lot of wiggle room for cost cutting before it starts looking like a generic mall.
So it that a giant screen or a mirror? Because the first few images look like reflections of the sky but the last one has a bunch of random horses? And a giant screen would look way cooler.
I'm confused.
it would be awesome is it were a mirror because that would mean there is a horse track on the roof
and two-storey tall giant horses. That would be a feat of genetic engineering!

It's a mirror, I thought the rendering with the reflections of the flying horse race around the new building was a dead giveaway.
Friend of mine has the drawings, under NDA, but he did say that there are plenty of bathrooms, so looks like we will avoid pulling an Edmonton.
He must have more detailed drawings or something, because the layout drawings of the inside are freely available through the city's website. Someone even linked it way back in this thread. I'm looking at them right now and can confirm, lots of bathrooms.

Counting rows, by my count, the Saddledome had 24 rows in the lower bowl and 18 in the upper. The new arena will have 28 rows in the lower bowl and 14 in the upper. So, it's basically the same number of rows in the same horizontal space.
The Saddledome has 13 rows in sections 101 and 106-122. Sections 102-106 go up to 24 rows, but even those aren't full rows in section 102 and 106, with each one having six seats.
Most of the second level is 24 rows, but some are at 23 and others go to 26. The third level has 4 rows in the end sections, 20 rows in the middle, and between 15 and 18 in the other sections.

My comment was about the original Saddledome layout, not its current (post 1995 renovation) layout.

I like the colder look that removes some of the red and bronze from the older renders - although that may just be lighting reflecting off certain pieces of the overhang.
It still looks like a generic shopping mall meets a brutalist megachurch though
Click Details / About / Download the Available Documents. Once you click the doc link give it time. It'll take a bit before it asks you to save the pdf.
The Proposed Floor Plans 3of3 document has some interior elevation renderings, but they're not the nice and pretty type.
It does confirm that the press box and balcony seats will overhang the upper bowl slightly. If you're sitting at the very top of the upper bowl, you probably won't have a clear view of the scoreboard. It will likely be like sitting in the first few rows of the 300 level at the Saddledome.

But you will probably have fancy new TVs to look at to aid with the view/info etc

The drawing describes it as ribbon projection. The common term is projection mapping. It is extremely cool and looks fantastic. A few good examples to Google or YouTube include "Sak's Fifth Avenue Light Show", "San Antonio Cathedral Light Show"
The current Van Gogh exhibit in Calgary uses similar technology. The side of the arena would be a blank canvas. Anything is possible.
