Darryl has probably given Treliving some insights into team identity, how certain players fit and why.
This has to be the case for him. He must be able to see the difference between Sutter and the other coaches now.

What about Lucic's goal, strips the puck on a defensive play and skates in and scores wow!
Where is James playing these days, how's he doing? lol

Penguins had 45 shots tonight and went 0/4 on the PP including a 2 man advantage in the first period.

I'm sure it will be a happy flight home.

Coleman was playing 18 mins a night for the best team in the NHL in the playoffs. With no PP time.

Been one of the Flames best forwards IMO

2nd/3rd line is hard to define right now

It was difficult reading through that and a nice reminder to myself why I don’t post on here, I sure would love to discuss but what’s the point of being ridiculed to such a severe degree over a hockey opinion? Who cares? I say take a deep breath, realize we’re all here trying to enjoy the same cause! It’s hockey and we’re all Flames fans and it’s not often our team gets off to such a nice start! When it comes to hockey, no one’s ever 100% correct, so let’s just enjoy these wins that we have won so far. GO FLAMES! .
Thank you thank you thank you

The beauty of it is that they traded Lucic for Neal, and now they are paying BOTH of them to play for other teams!

Meanwhile, on the topic of Coleman:

Sutter has called Coleman-Backlund-Pitlick an ‘identity line’, which I think is a very good description. They epitomize the way he wants the team to play. The top-end skill is distributed among the other lines, but those three guys just get the job done. At present, you have to consider them the second line. At some point the remaining forwards will get it sorted out, and some other trio may jump up the lineup and push CBP down to third-line duties. That is what is known as ‘a good problem to have’. Good teams have more than six players fit to play in the top six.

With all that in mind, I don't object if you want to call Coleman a top-six forward.

I'm glad Zamler is back and that Gaskal has something to do after games again!!

I still don't know how the thanks button works. Are we limited per day or hour? My own fault for not doing my own research

Is it greedy to be doing so well and still want Eichel added to the team?

I don't think so. We deserve good things.

They really tried their darndest to give Edmonton the mcBoosterSeat and lock the Flames in the cellar with the first half of the schedule, didn't they?

Maybe we should go sweep that roadie too.

Is it me or does Backlund look like he's playing at another level right now?

Maybe having two possession strong guys with him is really letting him freewheel a bit more.

Fantastic road trip and the team is just a joy to watch.

Not their best game, and they needed Markstrom to steal it for them, but teams need that sometimes - you aren't going to be the better team every single night. They WERE the better team in each of the previous 4 games, but they looked tired last night, which is no surprise for the tail game of a long road trip. And, they were the better team until the 3 penalties changed the momentum.

Also, the goalie gets to wear a team uni for a reason - because he is part of the team.

You can't win em all, but this team is fun to watch!

Oh, and the Oiler salt is a delicious accent to the beautiful hockey being played.

Regarding Sutter hockey ('boring', 'plodding', 'big and slow'...), the biggest misnomer is that it is about physical play and slowing things down. Nothing is further from the truth. It is about positional play, structure, and most importantly, playing fast, uptempo and working hard. Moving the puck forward quickly. Constant pressure, and relentless forechecking. And gap control on D.

There is nothing boring about Sutter hockey. Unless you are a fan of the opposition.

Look at it this way... who have the best players been so far this year? Who is excelling under Sutter?

Gaudreau
Lindholm
Mangiapane
Coleman
Kylington
Hanifin

I mean that could almost be a list of the guys that one might think would be the opposite of Sutter hockey. (If they were of the mistaken opinion that it is about slow, plodding, physical play).

God bless Sutter!

Late the party. I said that coaching matters a lot, but I didn't think it would make THIS strong of an impact with this roster.

It's still early in the season, but this is the first time since the 1st half of the 2018-19 season that games have been really fun to watch. Obviously because they are not just winning, but winning convincingly.

If this is sustained throughout the majority of the season, this team is a legit threat.

Love Sutter hockey.

Pitlick Backlund Coleman is a formidable 2 way group that i didn't even consider coming into this campaign.

They've been like prime 3M reincarnated, and Coleman has feasted offensively with those guys.

After the summer that happened and lots of people being down on this team, I am very grateful for the best October in over a decade. It is nice to have some positivity around the team.
