Revoking the franchise, championships, taking away draft picks. These steps punish the innocent bystanders in this, Blackhawk fans. They did nothing wrong.
IMO you get very precise about who knew what and what actions they took. And you hold those individuals accountable and hit them hard where it is going to hurt. Their wallet and their future livelihood in the NHL. If other more senior people didn't know but promoted a culture that allowed this behavior, you punish them hard too. If any actions meet the definition of criminal behavior then I certainly hope that avenue is pursued.
Then put that money to some good use.
To do this, you need leadership at the league level that cares more about eradicating this behavior than protecting the image of the league.

At a high level the root failure identified in the report boils down to the inaction after a meeting that Bergevin was not present for:
1) MacIsaac hears about Beach and Aldrich from and Employee and asks Gary to find out if there is merit to what he's heard.
2) Gary talks to Beach and reports back there is merit to what McIsaac heard.
3) A meeting is held with McDonough, Gary (He is excused before meeting ends), Bowman, Chevy, Quennville, Blunk.
After this meeting nobody informed HR and/or began an investigation into the allegations. Instead from May 23 to June 14 nobody does anything. McDonough informs HR June 14. HR gives Aldrich a choice to resign or perform an investigation. He resigns.
There is no mention of Bergevin because the report intentionally left out names that weren't apart of that meeting.
It's likely that Bergevin knew about it IMO and to me he is accountable to say something if he hears something akin to the players that hear about it. Thing is when he does, if he doesn't go directly to HR it ends back at McDonough who already wasn't doing anything about it during the playoffs.

Don't forget the rest of the timeline, which involved keeping the Blackhawks allowing this predator to celebrate with the team, keeping their mouths shut while he went on to assault high school kids (and after the fact, not mentioning "hey, BTW, this guy did the same thing to one of our players"), denying the accusations back in the spring, and even as late as this week, asking for the case against them to be dismissed.
The league should just award the team to Kyle Beach and the other people that were assaulted. I would suspect the currently known victims are not the only ones.

I think that setting a precedent that this type of behaviour will result in “loss of wins” is important. Whether that be championships won during the even and/or high end futures, i think it’s crucial. Yes it does punish the fan base. A fan base that will put pressure on that organization to not put up with this again and make the proper changes.
Putting winning above humanity is the problem and will still occur if the only risk is money and personal accountability. They obviously don’t care about that. They were at risk already.

Is Sharp still working in the media? I'm curious if he has said anything.
Toews, Keith, and Sharp were the guys with the letters that year (and Seabrook was added the following year). These were the leaders of the team. Forget how young they were (Toews is the only one who was under 25), they accepted that responsibility, so they need to accept the backlash too.
Even if you accept the premise that management kept the details from the players to avoid any distractions, there's still no excuse for all the stuff Beach and the other player had to go through in the subsequent years.

As suspected, Keith is one of the 37 who declined to participate. A complete coward.

I see a lot of people are surprised that Q was behind the bench last night in Florida.
Have you met Florida? That he was behind the bench last night for the entire hockey world to see is probably the least surprising part of this whole thing.

It's bad enough that all these heartless pieces of garbage turned a blind eye to the kid 11 years ago and swept it under the rug, the fact that they're still denying it is utterly disgusting.

Agree. Post 366 is how I feel. I was only responded about why Bergevin has not taken the same heat as others that were apart of the Blackhawks management.
I'll add one thing to your post that maybe gets overlooked: during the window between May 23rd and June 14th Aldrich also crotch grabbed a 20 year old intern during a cab ride they shared as they each went to their separate homes. At least 5 front office people knew about that too and none of them went to HR.

Yeah, I forgot about that one... I hope that comes out in any trial that happens, or that intern follows up with their own lawsuit.
And also yeah, I haven't seen anything that suggests Bergevin should be tied into this. Don't know what a "Director of Player Personal" is responsible for, though.

It’s easy for him to say that now, but what would Tortorella have actually done in that situation? Especially 11 years ago? Not so sure it would’ve played out any differently. Tortorella isn’t exactly known for being a players coach. But who knows, maybe he’s being genuine and wouldn’t actually have let that happen. Impossible to say for sure.
