Honestly I wouldn't read into the quote from the minority shareholder. They don't get very involved in the on ice stuff or hockey ops. His comment on being in trouble would purely be about where they were in the standings.
Interesting tidbit though, when they were in the playoffs the first year, they were pulling down $8m USD per home date. Made an extra $40m in profit that season.

Good point, but I don't think it shuts the door completely. Taking into consideration that a large portion of Eichel's contract may still be insured for the majority of this season and if the deal included a salary dump of either Kessel or Eriksson (NMCs pending of course), I could see them still working it into their budget. I never really trust teams when they say they are broke. The Penguins declared bankruptcy like 3 times, then drafted Crosby, immediately found money to buy players again.
Like Pittsburgh at the time, the Arizona market seems like a Bettman pet project and the owners know that Bettman has their back if they need financial support. Going out on the conspiracy limb here, but the NHL is also desperate in the moment to subtract negativity from the news cycle and I could see Bettman using his pull to encourage them to make a deal to get the Eichel situation out of the way. Arizona certainly has the resources with 7 picks in the first 2 rounds in 2022 and 10 picks in the first 3 rounds in 2023 and 2024. Bettman could also tell the Sabres that if they retain salary in the deal, he'll make sure they are drafting Wright with one of the 1st rounders.
I'm not really serious about the lottery rigging of course, but I am pretty sure that as long as Bettman is running things, Arizona doesn't need to worry about bring broke.

Still sticking with this going down late Friday so the organization can hide out for the weekend. Will be glad for this Saga to end.

Question is: which organization is going to want to do the hiding out?

I have a feeling Vegas has wilted and they are just working out the conditions and everything else. They just signed Whitecloud to a 6 year extension.
Would they consider moving Theodore?
Theodore, Smith, Krebs, conditional 1st based on games played or cup final?

Is Krebs this blue chip amazing prospect or what? I don’t see how Calgary can’t beat a Vegas offer.

Certainly the best prospect “available” between Calgary and Vegas.

I feel like he would be comparable with any of the Flames recent first round selected forwards,

Tree just needs to dial the trade difficulty down to Easy, and keep adding 1st round picks until he gets the job done.
To CGY: Eichel, Eakins (50% retained)
To BUF: Lucic, Monahan, Zary, Pelletier, '21 1st, '22 1st
Buffalo then flips Lucic to Boston or Pittsburgh (retained salary) and Monahan to Ottawa. They get their "4 1st round picks" from the Flames, and the cap to make it work. Flames get Eakins to help off-set the loss of Monahan until Eichel is healthy, and we don't lose out to Vegas.

Depends on how much Buffalo likes Krebs.
If they view him as the best prospect between the two teams that's important. He's arguably the only prospect that has top line potential.

Those types of deals are Treliving's specialty. It doesn't work as well when the Flames are one of the teams that constantly gets mentioned.

It would be nice to feel that way, but most would put Krebs well ahead.
At minimum he's a lot closer to the NHL.
And has a higher ceiling.
And ultimately it only matters what Buffalo thinks.

Lucic has a NMC. I suppose he might waive it only if he understands he goes to Boston. Monahan also has an NTC which I bet includes Buffalo. He might waive for Ottawa. Maybe.
