False. Kylington played almost 50 games in 2019-20, mostly with Andersson, I believe. He was averaging about 14 mins in the last dozen games or so in that stretch.

Would have been nice if Flames could have pulled a Nashville and sign their up and comers to a long term deal very early for a good price.

Like the Flames did with Lindholm and Hanifin, or do they play for another Flames team?

Lindholm yes, Hanifin making what he deserves.
Besides, they were kinda forced into those deals with the trade. Only reason both got traded was Carolina didn't wanna give them those contracts.

You mean Calgary gave them the contracts they were asking for, which the Canes thought were too high? How is that "forcing them".
And on the open market today Hanifin would make a couple million more.
There are also other contracts to consider and this thing called the salary cap. The team literally could not afford to give Mangiapane say - 5 million for 8 years, nor would he have signed that anyway.

I honestly think they’re gonna have to chose between Tkachuk and Mangiapane. With the Tkachuk families history of squeezing every penny they can, I’d chose Mangiapane. I’d probably chose Mangiapane without that factor. That just seals it for me.

You don't think Mangiapane would have signed 8 years for $5 million a year ago? He would have signed that without even thinking about it. First off no chance Flames even offer that one year ago. That is likely what they'll be offering him this off season.
Also Flames weren't forced into those deals but they knew trading for them they had to sign them to keep them since the numbers were known on what they wanted.
Also you think Hanifin would be making $7 million on the open market? Which is irrelevant anyways since he would still be a RFA. Not many 25 point 2nd pairing defenceman making $7 million.

Monny gone at deadline for 5th round pick. There is some of the loot needed for both, at least for next year.

Besides, how is it remotely relevant to bring up Nashville and contract status in. GDT?
Talk about off topic and complaining for the sake of complaining.

It's a discussion board. Someone brought up the contract of Mangi so that was relevant to the discussion.

If the Flames want "home town deals" they will have to start proving that they are a contender. Nashville signed many of those deals, like Tampa, like Boston, because they were constantly in the conversation for the Stanley Cup. Good Young players keep their options open because the team will try and screw you out of money every chance they get, and given the opportunity they will ditch you like garbage.
Ask Gaudreau if he feels like the team savings he afforded were well spent.

No, I don't think he'd sign an 8 year contract.
And defencemen aren't all about points, which escapes a lot of posters. Pietrangelo If Hanifin was a UFA he's command $7M. Trouba makes $8M, PK Subban makes $9M. And the price of Dmen shot up last off season.
Hanifin was first pairing for most of last year. And he was at a 26 point pace, and has scored over 30 twice.

Gotta admit, having a hard to getting excited about watching an NHL game. I think Elliotte Friedman said it pretty well on Marek's show yesterday: I have lost a lot of enthusiasm for the game after the last couple of days.
Sorry to be a downer; I'm apparently really having a hard time sorting through my feelings as a fan of hockey and the NHL.
I hope the Flames win tonight, but really, is it a big deal if they don't? I'm not sure anymore.

The massive undervaluing of Sean Monahan on this board continues to astound me.

After everyone's evaluation of Gudbranson it's hard to take peoples player evaluation seriously.

All data points to Hanifin being a 2nd pairing D man. He is a 30 point d man like I said. Jfresh analytics names him as a 2nd pairing D man with pretty average defensive analytics. Also Those defenceman you named were UFA. Can't compare an RFA with a UFA. Hanifin contract was 4 years RFA and 2 years UFA. He was fair market value when signed.
Also Mangi signed a 2 year deal for $2.4 but you don't think he would have added 6 more years to make $35 million more guaranteed? That is a silly argument.
Flames likely sign him this off season for that deal.
