I never want to hear again that coaching doesn’t matter. Coaching 100% does matter. I give credit where credit is due, and the Flames have earned it. I thought they’d be terrible because the roster on paper doesn’t measure up, but Sutter is absolutely getting the most out of this group.
Also, I have to say that Mangiapane is much better than I gave him credit for. Based on last year I had him topping out as Mason Raymond, but he might actually be the best player on the roster right alongside Lindholm and Johnny. It’s hard to choose, and it’s a good problem to have.
I get a lot of flak for being captain negative, I know, but I have nothing bad to say about this group so far. They play like they care, which is all I ask, and which is more than we’ve gotten under the last however many godawful coaches this team has employed. The whole is finally more than the sum of its parts. You love to see it, so I don’t mind eating crow because of it.

He did get a penalty, so I’m not thinking that was management. He could have given him 10 I guess, but slewfoots are technically trips, which is what was called.
