Remember slow starts and always playing from behind?

If you ever believed the refs don't make decisions to try to appease the home crowd when things are going against the home team, you're mistaken.
Exhibit A right here.

Chico is a beauty. Loves his Devils, but always objective.

I genuinely believe that Sutter himself has matured and has indeed come up with new systems. In fact, I think the reason why he wanted to coach the Flames specifically was because he had come up with a new coaching formula that modified his previous one to work purely offensive non-physical players (like Gaudreau, Mangiapane, and Lindholm), in combination with his usual backbone of grinders.
His coaching seems far less reactionary. He's not stapling players to the bench as long after reasonable mistakes.

I thought the game was starting at 5pm Pacific. Tuned in and it's already 4-0

Another thing Sutter has brought with him this year with the training camp as opposed to coming into the middle of the season last year, is he's been able to clearly define to each player what their role is on the team. Tkachuk even commented on this during the pre-season also saying it was the first time roles have been so learly defined to them by a coach. When players know their role and the expectations of them, they have goals every time they play.

What's going to happen first? Johnny's first goal or Mang's first assist?
|
Or will Monahan get one of either?

That was one of the more dominant periods we've seen from this team, on the heels of one of the more dominant games we've seen. It's hard not to be impressed with this team so far this season. They look good. Really good. Every player in the lineup.

Aside from game 1, they've looked great every game. It's even more impressive when you consider how difficult their schedule has been. They've played every game against hot team/goalies too.

Devils have 5 shots.
Darryl is the one and only.

I don't know if I ever considered Darry reactionary. But it helps that this team has played very well from the first puck drop in Edmonton. He hasn't had much bad play to respond to yet.
