Yeah but you are only getting him for four years. I just think four years of an injury prone forward isn't worth the price it's going to cost.

Of guys who are on long term contracts, Theodore, Tuch and Stephenson. Brossoit is on a 2 year contract. Dadonov has a 10 team no trade list. I generally assume any no trade list starts with Buffalo.

Ya, that would be terrible when that stick of dynamite explodes for 100 points a year.

How is this better?
I think the Flames would have a deal if that could actually get it done

If Vegas gets him and the price is reasonable I’m all aboard the fire Treliving train. I’m pretty much there anyways but that’ll seal it.

Vegas plays as many games against the Oilers each season as the Flames do.
Unless you believe there would be some magical value to the Battle of Alberta for a guy from Boston who was born in 1996, the only difference would be maybe 2 extra head-to-head exhibition games each year.

I wonder if the lack of Stone, Patches and Tuch has exposed the Karlsson/Marchessault line in terms of being able to carry offence. I watched some of their last game and they were not good.

Pretty misleading thread title. Got a few posters worked up, though.

IMO, this isn't enough to beat Vegas' offer. Maybe something like Monahan + Mangiapane + Zary + unprotected 1st. If Buffalo has zero interest in Monahan to push the deal ahead of Vegas' Flames may need to add a Coronato or Valimaki and an additional pick

We keep adding Monahan as something of value in the deal. Buffalo from all instances aren’t too keen on picking up roster players. They will pick him up due to cap reasons, but not too much beyond that.

What’s interesting is that with a deal like this… Buffalo gets better immediately and gains future assets too. Strictly because eichel is out for a long time. If he was ready to play immediately, it would be the flames getting better immediately.
But I’m not sure if that’s enough to beat the Vegas offer I proposed.
Is Zary >= Krebs?
Is Valimaki >= Hague?
Is Calgary’s 1st round pick >= Vegas’s 1st round pick?
Is Dube >= Smith?
I’m honestly not sure about any of these questions.

I’m sure if Treliving really wants to win this he can offer Gaudreau, Coronato, an unprotected 1st on both of the next 2 drafts and Wolf. That will surely win and then the “Eichel at all costs” crowd will be satisfied. Right?
