I think that moment just put him over the edge. He’s not even worth getting mildly upset about. He’s painfully insignificant (in his eyes) in every facet.

Ted and his dad...and my guess is we some stuff with his son next year (I don't think Nate saying "You should be back in America with your son" is going to be a throw away line)
Jamie and his dad.
Nate and his need for acceptance from his dad.
Even Sam's big storyline was triggered by a message of disappointment from his dad.
Really only Roy hasn't had an issue with his own dad...but then all of his character growth has been centered around him being the father figure for his niece.

My guess is Mr. Kent enters the fray at some point. Unless he's dead. Which is a whole different issue, and obviously one he and Ted could bond over.
I'm glad Nate is out, Roy was always the best choice as coach.

Totally. To see stone cold Kent so worked up about Jamie, and then nothing for Nate who arguably had a worse offense. He's nothing. A joke.

Which reinforces his irrelevance in his father's eyes. The whole thing is pretty well crafted actually. You can see why he broke bad in that exact moment.
This is not a show about sports, it's a vehicle to discuss fathers, mentors, and relationships, as well as mental health. It's cleverly disguised as a feel-good show about a sports team.

And Jamie, don't forget him. He's more of a big brother rather than a father though. He also had the same relationship with McAdoo (the captain).

We did see Roy act as an Uncle.
And Rebecca dealing with her cheating father.

Sudeikis with the savage burn on SNL:
Quote:
Later, during his opening monologue, Sudeikis talked about his success since leaving the NBC sketch series eight years ago, namely his hit Apple TV series “Ted Lasso.” “It somehow became a hit,” he said. “Which is surprising, because it’s built around two things Americans hate — soccer and kindness.”

His burn on Weekend Update about Jost marrying Scarlett Johanson was great. Anytime people do that to Colin is funny.

I don't understand how they left off the Keely/Roy relationship. When a woman tells her boyfriend to take a 6 week vacation without her, that's pretty well code for breaking up. Even if she was consumed with her business surely she wouldn't want Roy away for 6 weeks straight.

I completely missed it. I saw Nate buying into his own press for a while, and getting increasingly disgruntled, but I completely missed where Ted "abandoned" him? Like, sorry Nate, I don't see it? But when you are keeping score with all of these aggressions and microagressions against you, be they legitimate or perceived or complete nonsense, and totally blow up, you're going to catch people off guard. I've been guilty of it in the past.

There was plenty of times visually Ted ignored Nate.
When Roy was brought in to coach. When Roy came up with the idea that won the game and Nate went to congratulate Ted and Ted stuffed him off to the side and went to Roy.
Laughing at him in the diamond dogs meeting about being an alpha (I think).
Lots more too. Ted did kind of take it for granted but Nate also lost control of his narcissism.
I always waited for Beards reaction to Nates doings. Kind of a tell how things were going to go.

Yeah they left this part pretty well open. For Keely, I think they showed that she's more focused on career than anything else in her life, family included. She's quite a bit younger than Roy (around 12 years I would guess) so they may very well be at different stages in their life.
For Roy, it was a kick in the dick for sure. Sometimes time away makes the heart grow fonder. Maybe the time away gives him some perspective on what he wants in life. As he said, he's never taken a holiday.
I would hate it if Keely and Jamie got back together.

Yeah but it's pretty clear they accelerated his personality change to set himself up as the season 3 villain. Him ripping on Ted in the finale was kind of awkward IMO as a lot of the pent up disdain for Ted came out of nowhere.
