Medical science has greatly improved since the days of Roberts and Mario
If an MMA fighter can have a successful surgery so can Eichel
For those who didn't see it this is MMA fighter Chris Weidman's story.
Weidman's surgery is exactly what Eichel needs/wants, I would want this too.
And this is UFC Fighter Phillipe Nover, he had total disc replacement and fought for 6 more years after surgery. After retiring at age 31 he became a nurse of all things.

Backlund to SJ for Kane and their 1st ..... Chuky our 1st and SJ 1st for Eichel
I'm sorry? You want Kane like Evander Kane not Patrick Kane ? Are you smoking some Forrest lawn top crystals? And then you think Buffalo wants Kane back after they have already Traded Kane out of Buffalo to San Jose?
They probably knew of the issues before the issues went to defcon 10 since he was there for just 2 years .
How ####ing high are you?

We keep Kane ..... Chucky Backlund two firsts out ... Eichel and Kane in ...
If Evander Kane ever played a game for the Flames I would stop supporting this team.
Backlund for Kane is so at odds with the organization you’d have to had never paid attention to the Flames in any capacity to think it was a possibility.

Eichel thread huh. Don't want the guy at all. Nothing has demonstrated Eichel's a center that can take you to the promised land. Lindholm is proving just fine as a number 1 center and the cost to a team to meet Buffalo's trade demands is silly. Over at Flamesnation they have "fans" writing off Chucky because he hasn't got 7 points like his line mates. It's a long season. May as well shut this thread down because I don't believe Calgary is "in on Eichel" any more.

You don't believe they are in on him? Any sources for that? If we're going to shut down a thread I think a source would be needed.

So all the reports saying Calgary is one of three or four teams “in on Eichel” are wrong? It’s not that you don’t believe they are, it’s that you don’t want them to be.
Lindholm is having a fantastic start. But Eichel would be a new level, assuming health. And as for Tkachuk, it’s pretty clear he hasn’t been anywhere near as effective as his linemates. In fact, aside from Ritchie, he’s been at the bottom of the top 6 in performance for me (and below Coleman as well).
At this point unless it’s a bargain you don’t do it. There is too much risk with the surgery (either one) to be giving the farm away for Eichel. Sure it’s an exciting idea, but it needs to be a smart one too.

Could the trade be structured in a way where if Eichel plays X numbers of games for the Flames, then the Flames add Y picks? Wouldn't that be the only way to ensure he returns to full health? It wouldn't be predicated on his quality as a player, but just the fact that he can play.

I expect we’ll see that sort of conditional pick included in any deal. Insiders have commented that back in the summer the Sabres were not entertaining offers with conditional picks, but they relented a few weeks ago.
I could see a conditional 2nd round pick in 2022 if Eichel plays 20 games in the 2021-22 season or something like that.
