I'm afraid for our collective mental state if we were to lose to the Wings tonight.

Has anyone heard why they split up the Hanifin/Tanev pairing that was so good last year? Spread out the talent on the blue line?

I suspect that’s it. Without Gio no other defenceman is strong enough to be the anchor on a top 4 pairing.

I was about to post a GDT, but it seems I was beaten by 2 others.

Here is what I was about to post:

Quote:
No GDT yet? Morale must be low. I'll try and spice things up....

Your CALGARY FLAMES take on the RED-HOT WINGS at LITTLE CAESARS PIZZA ARENA at 5:30 MST! I guess wings and pizza go well together, but they are both best FLAME-GRILLED! Flames are still in search of their first win on the season.

The unvaccinated TYLER BERTUZZI leads his UNDEFEATED IN REGULATION Wing-kin with 5G-1A-6P in 3GP, whilst RASMUS ANDERSSON and JOHNNY GAUDREAU share the point lead for the FLAMES with 0G-2A-2P through 2GP.

Please watch at 5:30 MST on:
SNE
SNO
SNW
or...... BSDET (I do wonder what the BS stands for, but not interested enough to look it up).

FLAMES look to improve their PP from being 31st in the league and 29th in Goals for per game. Fortunately, RED WINGS have the 25th ranked PK through 3 games, and perhaps an opportunity may present itself.

In the goaltending category, Greiss is 2-0-0 with a 1.00 GAA and .969 SV%. Markstrom has to pick up his pants, because he's sitting at 3.43 GAA and .881 SV% through 2 games.

GO FLAMES GO!
now to get back to work...

Need to get Rasmus going and he has had success with Hanifin before

Tanev will be good with any mobile D. Thrives playing with a young puck mover

As for trying Tanev with Zadorov? Don’t see any logic there and like usual the org was slow to react to things. Hopefully it’s done for good. It was like putting three snipers on one like and going “this is our GOALS line they’ll score goals”. Players didn’t compliment each other at all and it was hands down the worst Tanev has looked as a Flame

What devilry is this?! A pairing has been an absolute disaster through two games and the coach has made a change to address it? In two games? A head coach this agile hasn’t been seen since…well, since 2005/2006!

Paired with Tanev, Kylington will get the shifts. Has to make the most of them.

I wonder who sits between Zadorov, Gudbranson and Valimaki. Arguments to be made for any of them.

The BS stands for Ballys Sports I believe. The regional sports networks in the US are all selling sponsorships/naming rights to sports gambling companies.

^ Correct. Bally bought the regionals from Fox.

Gudbranson has been uncharacteristically solid through two games but preseason was really ugly

I wouldn’t mind just Valimaki-Stone. For a third pairing their results last year were actually pretty good

Arguments can be made for any of them, but can arguments be made for any of them over Zadorov?

Kylington-Tanev will become a thing.

Andersson-Hanifin will remain a thing.
