If I were the Coyotes, I'd grab Gawdin and waive Jay Beagle and Loui Eriksson

Like keeping prospects around, but I'm not losing sleep over this waiver exposure.

Glad they didn't send Kylington through as well!
That is probably why he looked okay in the preseason playing with Lucic.

Waiving Beagle and Eriksson is a wasted exercise

Rookie mistake.

If Gawdin became a positive contributor for the Coyotes it might mess up the tank.

Better to stick with guys they know are awful.

Yeah I don’t understand how Brett Ritchie can stay on the team

Gawdin isn’t even great but he’s in another league compared to Ritchie

And Oil Stain knows a little about tanking, if there's ever a question

I thought they only used those for negotiating with UFAs.

Flames draft pick Adam Cracknell kept plugging away, despite subpar foot speed. Gawdin will get his shot, as long as he keeps plugging away.

Ah you think the Tank is your ally? You merely adopted the Tank. I was born in it, molded by it.

My eye test completely agrees with you, and I thought that Gawdin was the better player out of the two. However, Ritchie is 4th on the team right now in generating high danger shot attempts per 60 at even strength... very small sample size, but he definitely wasn't bad in the first 2 games.

I've had no problems with Ritchies play to start the season.

His forecheck is definitely one of the best on the team, punishment for defensemen. He hits, is relentless with his puck pursuit and I think he has a great motor for a big dude.

Yeah, the complaints about Ritchie are pretty last year.

Gawdin is a 5th line player.

Relax. He contributes very little.

Thanked because awesome reference and because it might be the most clever and intellectual thing a Oil fan ever has or will say .. maybe even the smartest thing out of Edmonton. Period.

My guess is he clears. If not, you still have the likes of Froese or Kirkland in the bullpen. Or give one of the kids a cup of coffee.

Came to say this. I'm not an analytics guy at all but I chuckled when I seen he was even ahead of Gaudreau in that metric. To me, it shows how analytics don't paint the whole picture.

I thought Gawdin looked fine in his brief stint.

The reason you waive him instead of Ritchie is because neither one were destined for a full-time spot when healthy:

Gaudreau-Monahan-Tkachuk
Mangiapane-Monahan-Dube
Coleman-Backlund-Pitlick
Lucic-Richardson-Lewis
Ritchie

Ritchie will likely sub in for Richardson and Lewis move to C every once in a while to get some games in

Better Gawdin plays regular minutes in Stockton with what should be a good team.

Pelletier – Ruzicka – Phillips
Pettersen – Zary - Pospisil
Duehr – Gawdin – Francis
Kirkland – Philp – Froese
Zavgorodniy/Tuulola

I really don't see Gawdin getting claimed. Teams already have their own Gawdin.
