CPS says all their records concerning this were lost in the 2013 floods. Chu was elected 4 months later.

You'd think there would be digital copies in 2013?

Maybe this is the buildup to the climatic finish, and he will be forced to leave the seat. Would be a dramatic way to end this thread.

Can Farkas run in Ward 4? Don't you have to live there?

All candidates must be eligible to vote in the election. All candidates must be:
- at least 18 years old,
- a Canadian citizen,
- reside in Calgary on Election Day, and
- reside in Calgary for the 6 months before Nomination Day.
Councillors and trustees in Calgary do not have live in the ward they wish to represent.

Oh come on! One thing this election has shown us is that our requirements are ####. Of course you should have to live in the ward.

I saw Chief Neufeld on the news last night and he says that he reviewed things and it appears like they did everything properly and followed protocols. He didn't say anything about them having no records.

Voters are morons and elected Sean Chu, several times. Better rules!

Farkas -- as desperate as he might be -- wouldn't get elected in Ward 4.
He's not Asian enough

He will win easily. He is Rempel enough.

I think it would depend on if Angela McIntyre ran again, or if anyone else stepped up. It would be a mistake for her to run, because obviously she wouldn't win. Presumably most of her votes would shift to DJ. It would probably be pretty close.

If you live outside but work inside the district (say you own a small business there) and thus spend half your day there you probably have as much of a stake as a resident.

Voted for Kodos
|
Jim Stevenson, when first elected, lived in his ward. Later elections changed the boundaries, so he no longer lived in his ward.
Should he not be allowed to continue to run without moving?
The point is, it’s really hard to make black and white rules.
I don’t think it should be a requirement. Voters should decide if the candidate gas enough connection to the ward.

If Chu resigns and the election was this close, shouldn't the runner up just get the seat on council? I would think so.
