The optimal D pairings for this team, on merit, would probably be
Hanifin-Andersson
Kylington-Tanev
Mackey-Stone
With Valimaki getting some spin as he's a developing player.

Lives In Fear Of Labelling

I thought Mony played a really good game until that last shift in OT. His 1st was meh, but in the second and third he was engaged and had a couple chances.
I liked Coleman’s game, Chucky’s GAF level looks back to above average, and Johnny looked dangerous out the almost every shift. Markstrom got beat by some very good shots.
Not a ton of negatives for me, with the exception of lack of finish, Zadarov is a yard sale though… bring in #58!

Excellent? Haha I see a top six guy not a game breaker. He’s still below average in the skating department and isn’t a premiere pwf like his younger brother.

What about picking up a guy like Kessel. He can still score, UFA next year, PHX has shown they're willing to take on salary if it means they can get a pick or two as well, we know BT likes to trade away draft picks. Lucic + pick for Kessel? This team needs goal scorers, we clearly are not going to be rebuilding any time soon, so may as well just keep going for it.

The game was entertaining for the first period or so then it got so boring. Flames looked to be the much better team for large portions of the game but a 1 goal lead is not safe and when the Ducks scored it just felt like the loss was inevitable.
2 days between games this place is definitely going to be fun

he had good defensive numbers last year so I had hope.
Gio didn't exactly have a good game tonight either FYI

He is better than Brady in every facet of the game and has been every year of their lives.

Think many are still too negative on the Flames' overall outlook.
Still love the way they played the first 2 games. Completely controlled play.
They just need better finishing (4.4% is hilariously low) and for Markstrom to make some saves that a $6M goalie is supposed to make.

Is there anything worse than being too good to get a top 5 pick but too lousy to make the playoffs. This looks exactly like one of those teams…again.

Strange gripe.
He was really f'n good tonight. I don't know if you could ask much more from the guy, or any guy in your top six.
Also he is better than his brother currently, so..

I think the forwards should be ok but I don't see much if any offense from the backend this year. None of these guys look like a threat to score or make plays. That's a big problem.

Because we're not.
We legit don't have anyone that is dangerous every shift.
No one on our team is a threat to score every time they're on the ice.
Flames fans should be prepared to see a lot of games where we win the advanced stats battle, but lose the game because we just couldn't get a goal.

so jump off a bridge?
We can discuss what actually happened in the game no? Or do we just say the Flames are not NHLers because they lost in OT

No he didn't have good defensive numbers. Also you told us he was good. He isn't and never has been.
Plus, I never said Monahan wasn't an NHLer I said he isn't an NHL center. He plays like a winger. He is bad defensively and plays soft.

I would agree except it has been like that for years, way back to the Gutluzan days. For some reason, no finish.

Because he plays with a team that has playoff aspirations and gets the bulk of the pp time with Johnny and our best center ice player. I disagree he’s a better player than his brother. Ottawa will win before this group ever does. Matt tachuck is slow and doesn’t make up for it as a game breaker enough. His stats are misleading because we had decent aspirations and depth before Colorado defiled us and removed any shred of offensive confidence the “key” offensive players on this club had. Johnny has looked better and lindholm was more dangerous as a winger.

My son and I watched the game together. We weren’t even mad. We expected it. Sad man.
