Two things:

1) the Oilers' D had a strong game

2) the Flames' Cs were awful. Monahan was good first few shifts but that was it, and Lindholm and Backlund were terrible

Mangiapane was the best Flame by far
I thought Monahan was hurt a bit after the Kassian hit(I hope the league has a look at it), also didn't like Nurse's hit on him.

Zadorov downright horrendous.
Gudbranson good

Sucks to lose, and listening to the Oilers hype feat is annoying, but the Flames outplayed then, and definitely didn't give up.

I am disappointed in Lucic against the Oilers though. I thought he would be playing them hard by now.

Play like that (which Darryl Sutter hockey generally is) and they'll win a lot more than they lose.

McJesus is just too deadly on the PP.

I couldn’t agree more the numbers pass the eye test, I think also having 8 days off played a huge factor as well. We have seen this with extended breaks for numerous teams in past seasons.

I think getting into a bit of rhythm will only help this team and having Coleman back might help get some chemistry going between the lines.

I also don’t think flames management is going to let this linger if chemistry doesn’t happen as jobs are on line no doubt about it.

Flames top6 C gets ragged dolled around yet this supposed tough team did nothing.

Thank you. It's a little too early to run all the top players out of town. I mean maybe we get there, but for now I'm happy with how the Flames carried the play.

The top line couldn't finish and if Gaudreau completed that 2 on 1 in the first, it's a different game. But still, the top line was hardly ever in their own zone and 5on5, handled the Oilers easily.

Markstrom was just fine. But to silence the Oilers PP, you probably need more than that.

And I think we need 4 actual lines that can contribute something.

Mavi and Drai were invisible at 5 on 5.

Andersson was bad. Not a top pairing defenseman tbh.

Kylington deserved to play more.

Mangiapane was outstanding.

Gaudreau, Tkachuk, Lindholm, and Monahan were not good enough. We need Jack Eichel.
Zadorv with as many giveaways as Tanev and Gudreau. Which 3 of the 4 could he have legit saved?

I don’t get why people think if they play like this 82 games they’ll win…playing consistently not hard enough to win? They’re obviously not putting this effort in every night.

Great, closer to a Top 3 pick this season at the very least.

Exactly. Would we really be happier if we won while being outshot, out chanced because of a few lucky bounces?

Work on the powerplay, don’t take as many penalties. Move onto some American teams we haven’t seen in almost two years.

Having Coleman back will be a big boost for the PK too

Liked the effort tonight, wish we had more offensive firepower

So ####ing what? We lost, our skilled guys did nothing their skilled guys got it done. If the coin was flipped we'd be talking about our best players taking advantage. As we should be.

Why dress 11 forwards and have the lines mixed up all night to play Kylington for 3 and a half minutes? How does that make sense?

They played hard enough to win.
The other team just had the (God I hate saying this) best player on earth.
That's it. That was the difference.

I can always count on the Flames to ruin my day. Honestly though they played better than expected but the team just lacks talent. Changes really needed to be made over the summer. Hoping they prove me wrong but not a lot to be excited about.

How many shifts on D did Kylington get and how many at forward? I couldn't tell when he was out there what position he was playing.
