Knowing that we're guaranteed to lose, I just hope Gudbranson, Zadorov, Lucic and crew go out and rag-doll that pathetic team.
I don't care if it leads to 20 PPG against. Make sure they feel the pain and limp into their next game.

Well obviously the 7th D is being dressed to play defense but see no reason why Kylington couldn't take a shift or two at F. We'll see and if so I will happily remind TC of his statement.

Why does it matter? If you get SNW you get all the other regional channels as well.
The reason it is not on SNW is because it is a National game. Being a National game, it is thus carried by all the regional channels including the SN4K channel. They have to put the Winnipeg game somewhere, and SNW is the defacto Winnipeg regional channel for those very rare occasions in which SN is carrying a Winnipeg game that is not National.

I have been conditioned over my life to expect a Flames loss to start the season, but our top players have looked lights out in the preseason to me. I was really surprised and excited to see the top line neutered McDavid so well in that preseason game. We finally have a coach that can play the match-up game with other coaches. I think that Edmonton was going as hard as they could in preseason but the Flames have another gear. Just hoping Darryl has them ready after that long break.
Regardless of the result, I am excited for the progress of the season. Unlike the last few years, my expectation is that the Flames are better prepared not to have any extended losing streaks. I like that Darryl has had them conditioned and practicing at a higher pace. Have a few decent winning streaks with no extended losing streaks and this team will be a nightmare in the playoffs.

They absolutely had the Oilers contained before Gaudreau took a seat for the night.
I feel like if Markstrom is dialed in they can do that again and finish strong.

If I was an OT prophet I would have already been stoned to death years ago. It will indeed be interesting to see how Kylington is used, and I eagerly await yet another reminder of my laughably poor predictive track-record.

Dude, this review just made my weekend. Thank you!
And the empties are a combo of Covid and the last few years of Flames hockey.

Just a reminder to everyone that in the last three games of 2021 v Edmonton, Markstrom was sensational. After working himself back into playing shape he had a 2-1 record, a shutout and a .960 SP, while limiting McPretentious to a goal and an assist.
Markstrom is going to be the story tonight.

Now that's how you take a ribbing!
I will be interested to see who gets more shifts at D, Valimaki or Kylington.

Well, it sure looks like even deeper intrigue with those lines from morning skate. I would guess that Ritchie and Gawdin get only a couple shifts, and Kylington and Valimaki will swap in and out.

My favourite part of the GDTs is PuppetGuy's stop-motion. That's entertainment! Thanks for doing those!
As for season openers, I have come to expect this:
I hope to see this tonight instead:
I believe in Sutter's ability. I think he will be conducting a most beautiful performance.

Yes that 4th line doesn't look too promising and could see both those players with under 3 minutes of ice time.

I think mainly 3 line hockey will work fine against the Oil. McD, Nurse and Draisaitl play 30 minutes a game. It's not like they roll 4 lines. 3 veteran lines with good centers is likely, along with Markstrom, a better game plan.

What the f*** did I just watch?
Not only was that voice insane, the song choice was so overly dramatic and moody, and it was in French to boot? Bizarre.

Not sure why they wouldn't have called up Duehr or another prospect that had a decent camp as an alternative to only dressing 11 forwards for this game? Not sure I understand the advantage of going 11-7....
