LA Kings pushing the pace all game. There's something that could hardly be said about that team ever in previous years.

OMG. Listening to the video explanation from the league shows what a joke dops is. He 'shoved him', not he checked him dangerously from behind 2 feet from the boards. And the player was unsuspecting that he'd be punched. I'd say if you check someone head first into the boards you can expect a punch coming.

Well it didn't take long for a worse boarding hit than Coleman's to go unpunished
Almost happened night two but I had to wait for night 3

As I said in the Coleman suspension, there are about 5 of these hits every night. The league and NHLPA don't have any plan to clear up the worst hit in hockey. Anyway, this suspension to Larkin is garbage.

First 5 Games rule.
Formerly first 10 games rule but today they are better coached and better conditioned. The first 5 games are important points and they DO count. However they are still pretty meaningless in terms of seeing which teams are going to be really good or not.
Anyone else run with this theory? I've been in 40-60 team pool for about ten years and always consider it at the start.
Teams will start terrible and finish first. Teams will start great and its a mirage. Look at the players with multi point 3-4 in a games right off the hop. Anyone think Kopitars scoring 360 pts?
I'll enjoy the early chaos and still watch of course however most good teams start to gel by 5-10 games and the ones that don't....

Absolutely. And I would say about 10 games.
Similarly, I think kids/rookies dominate in October, when the vets aren't fully up to speed, then slowly fall back

Was Larkin on his knees? With plenty of time to decide whether to hit him? If not, you can't really say they're the same thing.

I have him in a pool. So maybe.
Seriously though, I think Danault’s presence will give Kopitar a lot more offensive opportunity.

Maybe not exactly the same...boarding only exists if a guy is on his knees?
certainly more force behind this hit and he seemed to have plenty of time to take multiple strides and line it up
