That sucks. If a guy was on second that would be even worse. As a matter of principle it shouldn't have been called. Ump, what are you thinking?

It's not like the Giants were really threatening but come on. There's no way the first base ump can call that a swing, he has to be sure.
What a stupid way to end a series of two great teams.

I can't believe the Braves are in the NLCS.
88 win session.
Do they win a single game?

Well I batted 0-4 in the DS's. I guess I'm rooting for a Dodgers vs Astros rematch at this point.
All the prop's in the world for the Giants for an incredible season. Question is, can they repeat it next year?

As a fan without a huge rooting interest (well I dislike the Dodgers) it just sucks to have the ending of a great game ripped away from you like that.
I'm guessing that umpire feels like crap.

The McCullers injury is a huge blow for the Astros as their pitching isn't all that deep. Even so, their lineup can hopefully handle the Red Sox.

Bad calls happen, but WTF is the point of video review if not to make that a reviewable play?
It’s so frustrating watching a great game and have it ruined by that.
Dodgers 99% likely win anyways but that’s embarrassing as a neutral fan to witness

I get not wanting to slow the game down by having managers ask to review every checked swing but you should atleast be able to if it's strike 3. That was brutal.

I think the most "baseball is dying" take from last night is that a pitchers duel took 3.5 hours to play out. Like how does that happen? If you can't even get pitchers duels to happen in less than 3.5 hours you are definitely screwed in the long term as far as gaining interest.

My god
Video reviews can be annoying, but holy #### how can MLB let a series between two 100+ win teams end on a call like that and not do anything about it?
Obviously can't go back and change the outcome, but that needs to be fixed going forward.
If that had happened to the Jays, I may have lost my mind.

Playoff baseball is great...but I hate the MLB playoff structure.
Why only 5 game series in that first round? Why only 8 teams to start with?
You had 4 90 win teams this season that either played 1 or 0 playoff games (Seattle, Toronto, New York, St. Louis).
You have two 100 win teams that got eliminated in the 5 games series (San Francisco, Tampa Bay).
I don't think I can say with confidence that LA, Atlanta, Boston, and Houston are the 4 best teams in baseball. Expand the freaking playoffs already.

You are kind of contradicting yourself. If you expand the playoffs, you would have 100 win teams losing in the Round of 16.
(and you'd be playing into December!)

Maybe...maybe not.
You'd have two 100 win teams that would have got an easier first round match up, and play a 7 round series.
You need to move to a 154 game regular season but it would make perfect sense.

Play each other interleague team two times (2 games x 15 other teams - 30 games)
That's a 154 games schedule - which is the same as prior to 1962.
Then you have a 16 team playoff with 4 best of 7 series.
Trade 8 regular season games for up to 9 more playoff games potentially and a better chance at making the playoffs. Plus for the interleague game you can alternate road and home each year, so every team goes to every city at least once every two seasons.
