He is solid, usually he doesn't report on everything either so I usually put quite a bit of merit into what he says.

Still think a deal will be worked out around Christmas with Johnny getting around 8 million.

Probably have an extension in principle but need to know how the final cap structure will be if they acquire Eichel so everyone waiting

I multiple interviews Gaudreau stressed how much he likes being on the same line as Monahan.

I wonder, how he is paired this year will impact his willingness to sign with the flames. Additionally, if Monahan does get traded, does that also impact the negotiations.

Personally, I would really like to see an All or Nothing type behind the scenes for the flames. Based on the minor amounts of information in interviews and reading between the lines, I would bet the flames still have a locker room problem that is not solved. I would assume that team is just like any work place. Some people it is just a job/paycheck and for others it is career with lots of passion.

I have wondered about him and Monohan, they have been close since he got to Calgary, and wonder if playing with him or not being on the team would affect his decision.

If Gaudreau liked playing with Monny, he’s going to love playing with a center like Eichel too.
I think at this point in Johnny’s career, he must know that the reality of playing with the same center for his whole career is not likely. And I would like to think that he is enough of a pro to not pout about it

I don't think its a stretch to see the writing is on the wall for Mony, and good on Johnny for sticking up for his bro. Who here wouldn't stick up for their close friend in this kind of situation? Doesn't have to be hockey.

Monahan and Gaudreau are buddies. But I think Gaudreau likes producing and that trumps everything. If he lines up with guys who get him a ton of points, he will like it.

Buffallo probably dont even want Monahan at all, and Johnny gets 8 mill. Everybody wins. the Flames have lots of other pieces they probably prefer. If Kylington keeps showing well maybe a package starts with Valimaki and Zary.

I think Buffalo wants a proving star player for Eichel. May be they will consider if we purpose Tkachuk plus Hanifin plus drafted player or a pick for him.

Absolutely. That’s likely what he was doing in this scenario.

I was just responding to a hypothetical scenario where a poster suggested the possibility of Gaudreau possibly being sour with the team for including Monny in a trade.

If you are serious about being in the Shane Wright sweepstakes, that is the kind of offer you have to put forward. Right now the Flames make some moves to show they are interested in Wright (Gudbranson) but some other moves like Coleman seem to indicate that they are only half-pregnant in their efforts to be a player for Wright.
